sheila - I have my name blocked so even a search does not show it up. but I am friends with many here that are on Facebook. You can also start by doing a search for azspouse, join it then you will see many of us. Or you can send me your facebook name and I will search for you - unless you have it blocked like I do :-)

I did a search for your name and there are many - give us a clue as to which one is you
  1.

To remind those who have become my friend, you can click on the game post so they do not clutter your wall.

There has been so much activity on fb last few days! Love it - I will save all my serious talks for this site. I don't feel confortable sharing personal info on fb. Feel safe here. Thanks Joan for site. Nellie

I think I put a post on facebook. I really don't understand how it works. I agree with Nellie - I feel more comfortable here, and it's easier to use.
  6.
Nikki, you told Marsh to go to "Account" and select "Notifications" I did click on Account and there was no choice that said Notifications. Frankly, I put off my own health needs for so long that I really have to take a break from seeing all the e-mails about Alzheimers. I use Facebook for relatives and close friends and don't post very often, just check up on them from time to time. Since I'm 80 years old I spend lots of time with my own medical issues.

Hi Pris, I am on my phone at the moment so I don't have full access to my FB account. Once you click account, at the top of the page there are several tabs, notifications is one of them. From there you can change how you are notified, and can stop the emails.

I will check back later to see if you were able to fix your settings. If not I can get on the FB page and send clearer instructions. Have a good day everyone <3
  7.
No, one of the tabs is NOT notification, but I right-clicked on the AZ group and got into the place where I could make changes.

Odd that is on mine and not yours. I thought they were all set up the same. At any rate what is important is that you were able to get it fixed! Yay :)

I too save my personal Alzheimer's stuff for here

Nikki, when I click on Account there are five choices in the drop-down box: Edit Friends.....Account Settings.....Privacy Settings.....Help Center.....Logout
There are so many choices in each category that it's quite time-consuming and i found it quicker to do it the way I did. Joan's site here is plenty for me as regards to Alzheimers.

FB is good for 'normal' communication. Diane is always posting updates and pics of her house and decorating. Others post things outside of AD that is going on with them. I know if you post things in the alzspouse group only those that are members of the site will see it. Often it does not show up on our wall (at least on mine) so I have to remember to go there and see if anything new. It is also a place to post pictures of our spouse, kids and grandkids, trips, etc. that can't be posted here. Also, you can do chat there if you need to just chat. If the person is in FB you can IM them. Or just IM to say 'hi'.

I guess one could say - each has its place.

Oh, I have not seen it posted here but I did see it posted on FB that Sherry's husband passed away on the 8th.

facebook does have a secure setup as evidenced by https:// and "our" site doesn't have the secure symbol - http:// which supposedly means it could be hacked. HA None of my family and friends could do that. Obviously, I don't know much about computers:)

Zibby - don't let that https mislead you. If you check in the help section it explains the only place in FB that is https is the sign on page to keep your password secure. Once you get into FB, it goes to the http.

Pris, on the drop down Account, click on Account Settings; then across the page from left to right, I think the Notifications is the second or third one over. Click that on and you can change your notifications.
  10.
My settings and anything I post stays on https

Mine does not go from https:// to https unless I use an application or play a game and it will notify me if it changes. You can not play the games.....

Pris, I am now home and can see where I made the error... as Vickie said, from that drop down window on Accounts, you need to click Account Settings, and THEN it brings you to the notifications. Sorry for the mix up. I will correct it on Marsh's post as well.
