I recently found out that one of the ALF's in our area issues gift certificates for respite stays. I think it is a wonderful idea--if brides/grooms and expecting parents can register for gifts, why shouldn't we? If anyone has a special occasion coming up, i.e. anniversary or birthday, wouldn't it be great to select a facility you would feel comfortable with and see if they'll do gift certificates? That way, anyone who wants to give a gift could be directed there and they could contribute to a wonderful respite experience!

For what some facilities charge for respite it might take a couple of people to split the cost of a gift cetificate.

Great idea! Now all I have to do is find an ALF in my area that has a vacancy so they can take someone for a respite stay! Aargh.
