I have tried several different plastic ordor eater type plastic trash bags. However, the odor from the disposables seems to seep through the bags and into the plastic trash container. I change the bags after each change so don't understand why the smell leaks so much. Has anyone found a lightweight trash container that works? I also noticed the seat of the wheelchair can take on odors as well so have to keep it covered.

i dont keep them in the house. i use the can on the outside balcony, even though it means taking them out each time. or if late at night i drop them into a plastic bag from supermarket and tie each individually til morning and get them out as soon as possible. we are talking adult waste here and its hard to keep the odors at bay! just the urine soaked ones can smell quickly. containing them in individual bags seems to help. and i use alot of oust!

I was wondering if metal trash cans would work. The plastic seems to take on the smells and I have to Clorax it every few days. I used to have a very small amount of trash in our container. Now it is full to the brim each week. Hope they don't decide to charge by the pound.

    Zibby.
Baby cans are also made of plastic and if you look them up you will find people having to use all sorts of ordor control items as well.
Metal cans are very heavy as I have to move the trash from one side to the other each morning while doing our change.

Hospitals and nursing homes take them outside as soon as they can. I don't think anything will kill that odor once it gets into plastic. I agree. Keep shopping bags, put them individually into a bag. tie it up in a knot and take it outside to the big trash bag lined container.

I also use small trash bags tied up each time, then transport them to a larger garbage bag in the garage...which is tied, until this bag is full.

I also use individual plastic bags each time, tied and then sometimes placed into another small plastic bag, then out into the outside garbage also tied into another large kitchen bag. I buy the bags at Sam's club, they come 1,000 to the box for $10.00 Well worth it. I asked our daughter if she ever smelled anything when she comes to visit and she and my other families members all told me NO.

That's exactly what I did and I bought the same bags, Jane. I am still using those bags.......I never realized how many were in that box.....

I contacted the Poop Bag company to ask if they make a larger bag. Seems the doggy bags keep the smell in pretty well (we use these when walking our dog). Waiting to hear back.

I use the plastic bags that tie and take them out each time to the big garbage can outside. Like Divvi, I spray Oust a lot...and have the "super odor eaters" solids in each corner of the room. People who come say that they don't smell anything. I wouldn't try to keep the bags in the house at all once I fill them.
