I noticed that most of what happens to dh happens on his left side for some reason (swelling of leg; red and swollen eye lid, red ear). He does not sleep on that side. Maybe the eye/ear thing is allergies. I have to watch the eye lid and put ointment on it to make sure he does not get a stye.
I didn't notice that on my husband. It probably depends on what part of the brain is atrophying. My husband has been right handed all 20+ years that we have been together. However, after his 1st visit to the hospital in 2010, he ate his dinner with his left hand. I found out from his brother and sister that he was originally left handed.
My husband was left handed and had a stroke when he was in his 40's that left him slight left side weakness. However, after FTD set in, his right side seemed to go bad first.
