When I click on the link on this (Joan's) home page it only takes me to a few categories to search from and I can't get any further. Not wanting anything that's health related or ALZ related. I have an account at Amazon, but would like for Joan to get credit for what I purchase. How do you do this??

    Vickie,

Thank you for asking. The easiest way is to use the Amazon "search" button, which is on the right hand side of the home page where all the book links are. It's under the 'google' search button.

If you use the box on the left side of the website - the one that has the Amazon blue square, it takes you to My Associates Store. On the left, there is a scroll down menu labeled "search" that has choices of Health/beauty; books; electronics; movies; toys; and office products. But if you use the Amazon search box on the right side of the home page, you can type in anything you want.

    Thanks again for your support.

Sorry, Joan, I know this isn't your problem..but. I was going to order a $42 item - shipping was $17.98!!!! It was an Anxiety jacket for my doggie for thunderstorms, etc. Found it on another site for $39 with free shipping. This happens with Amazon so often with items I want. Shipping costs are outrageous. I did complain to them.

Yeah...it's probably good that I bought my dog's Thundershirt at the local pet store for that reason.
You do have to watch shipping costs online. One upside with Amazon is that you can often qualify for free shipping if your total is above a certain, often reasonable, amount, but this only works when the item is shipped/processed by Amazon as opposed to a third party vendor accessible through Amazon.

    Vickie,

I don't blame you - I always watch shipping costs. However, I had NO IDEA what you were talking about with the Thundershirt, so I looked it up. Well, where were they when I had a 120lb. Shepherd/Lab who used to hide in closets and bathtubs when it thundered? My first Golden Retriever would shake so hard, she seemed to vibrate. I watched a video about it, and it seemed to work. Amazing.

I have read a lot about them. Their success,of course, depends on the level of anxiety the dog has. And, it may not completely eliminate the terror, but it would seem to alleviate it some. Sort of like swaddling a baby.

I started my puppy (half Yorkie, half Shih Tsu) on thunder training early, because here in Florida it really thunders. The first time she heard it she was scared, so I laughed and told her that loud noise was silly. Just kept laughing every time it thundered and distracted her with a toy. In no time at all she got used to thunder and it didn't bother her at all. And this was NOT a calm little dog.

I think I got the idea for how to deal with the fear of thunder from the book, "How to Raise a Perfect Puppy"

Pris, I think it helps to start the training early, as a puppy - but ours was a little older when we got her. Even when walking her, if a car backfires, that's it - inside she wants to go!

I bought that thundershirt about 5 years ago, and I just love it. I even wear it to bed, and found that it does work to eliminate my anxieties....
The only negative thing is that my dog barks at me, but he will calm down if I let him bite my leg.

May my dog bite your other leg?
