My husband passed away last month and I was planning to see an Elder Care Attorney. Now that he is gone, is this something I should do or need to do? What are the benefits in doing so?
An Elder Care Attorney helps with wills, trusts, living wills, powers of attorney. I am assuming you had all that set up before your husband died. What is it you are looking for in the way of legal advice that you think an elder care attorney can help you with?
hi bettyboop. welcome. i would think after death you will want to ask about a probate atty? to discuss how to settle wills, and probate issues regarding your DH estate. sometimes there is no need to probate but its best to check with a qualified atty. maybe the elder law atty can help you sort thru this. i believe you have 9mos after death to get things in order before death/estate taxes etc need to be settled.
