Well, for those of you who are interested, I brought Dick to Phelps Memorial hospital yesterday to have his meds adjusted. He will go into a nursing home from there, once he’s stable. He has been aggressive at times, angry and difficult to deal with over the past year. It was, as I’m sure you can imagine, a most difficult decision to make, but I feel it’s for the best for both of us. I appreciate you remembering us in your prayers.

Chris, you've done a great deal for him and now have faced this. I hope that he settles in well and I hope exactly the same thing for you.
  2.
Perhaps the transition from hospital to nursing facility will be a change in the direction of homeyness and be perceived as an improvement.
    Hang in there.
  3.
Hugs to you, Chris....you have all of us with you in spirit.....
  4.
Chris, I know in time you will find comfort in the fact that you have done what is best for him; you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Chris, I'll be thinking of you. I went thru the very same thing a year ago in January. Of course, I had a lot of guilt at first but it was for the best for both of us. I visit him three times a week. I'm not angry with him like I was at home. Now i can tell him that i love him and sit and hold hands with him and truly mean it.

My thoughts are with all of you who have placed or are in the process of placing your loved one. I will never forget the feeling of walking away from the facility knowing that I was leaving him behind. I adjusted, he adjusted and in the end it was the best decision for both of us. But the pain and feeling of loss will never be forgotten.

Last night he was fine when we left, and slept all nite, I got there around 2 today, and helped him eat. then he insisted I leave, before itgot dark. OK, so I stopped to buy him some pajamas for the nursing home etc. Just got off the phone with the hosp, they want to restrain him because he's walking up and down the hall, and hasn't gone to sleep..... I spoke to him, then to the nurse. I told her to give him some chocolate ice cream, and something to drink, he's thirsty. I hope they move him to the nursing home quickly.
