My husband recently was given a l00 % service connected disability from the VA. Their insurance is now available to me. Does anyone have the VA insurance and do I need to keep our current health plan. I am alittle overwhelmed with some of these decisions but so thankful that the VA came through for him.

I am working on that now. My DH is 80% disabled by the VA and paid at 100% because he cannot work..this was several years ago. Now I am in the process of getting that rating up to 100%. He won't gain anything in terms of a $ increase. I just want him rated at 100% so that if our wonderful gov't goes back on things, as they have in the past, to "balance the budget" or something he won't suffer any setback. Do I trust our Gov't? In a word NO.

Mimi, I don't know if it was because of his age or the length of time he had been drawing disability or both.

Be aware those, as was said nothing is certain, I heard part of the national health care includes changing champus so it pays and covers no better than medicare/medicaid. Otherwise, many retired military and veterans will loose coverage unless they go to a VA facility.
