Has anyone had experience with the Magnolias memory units? My best friends daughter placed her in one, she is barely stage two.I am so upset. She is not allowed to have toiletries or personal items except clothing, they said she may eat them. She was living alone, did her own cleaning and cooking, but had fallen two times and I guess the daughter didn't want to bother checking on her.Her other two daughters can't get any medical info.
Sounds like the other daughters need to go to the facility and talk to the administrator. When my fil was alive and in the facility they had permission to release medical information to all the children. They may have to take legal action. As for her being treated that way, that is usually how they are treated in the later stages. As many here have found out it is not unusual to try to eat everything in site. Sounds to me like the daughter went overboard in placement unless there are facts you do not know about. Have you gone to visit her?
The daughter who placed her has medical power of attorney and the facility nor the physcian will give them any information.Unfortunately the daughter and her mother have the same family dr. and the dr. signed that my friend is incompetent and the POA can't be changed.Iwas so flabergasted when I heard that, except for some minor memory problems she is fine.I am in contact and visited her all the time and not detected anything.I do know the daughter in charge has been very verbal and emotionally abusive for the last year and a half, threatened to place her if she didn't get rid of her cat.The others have contacted an attorney and the officeof the aging.I am still not driving after my knee replacement and have not been able to visit,it is 40 miles from me.When one daughter asked her if she wanted to talk to me on the phone she burst into tears and was so upset she couldn't talk.I do think to dau.in charge railroaded her and was just waiting for an excuse to place her and get her out of the way.
