I have been asked to be a "guest-blogger" for the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation, from the perspective of spouse. Don't worry, I'll be sure to get in a plug for Joan and The Alzheimer Spouse! Now...off I go to sound legitimate...
edit: I'm thinking about opening with some thoughts about why it's different, as a spouse. I will be drawing heavily on what I've learned here, as well as personal experience. Thanks to all!
emily - you go girl! tell them like it is. It IS different as a spouse & sometimes people don't realize that. They say - Oh my (pick one) Mom, Dad, Grandpa, etc had AZ so I know what you are going through, but they don't. Congratulations!
Emily- I cannot think of a more qualified person. You are extremely intelligent, literate, and very logical. That is a rare combination, and please be sure to post the links for us .
Good luck with this. For sure there is a difference between a parent or other relative. My mom, an uncle and an aunt died of this disease. Now my DH has it and we all can testify to the difference in the situations. This is not to diminish the feelings and knowledge of how hard it was with the others but they were not our life PARTNER though they were certainly very near and dear. It is all bad.
Good Luck with the new project Emiily. I too have your Blog bookmarked and enjoy your writings - both here and on your blog. I also envy someone with a "flair with words".
