Recently i saw mention of the computerized version of a medic alert bracelet on this website. I went to Walgreens and for $20 purchased on for my DW. Programming it was very simple. This information that it holds is very complete and easy to enter. The nice thing about it is that changes are very simple to do and with dementia we all know that changes can occur frequently so updating is necessary if you want the most recent information available in case of emergency. I showed it to our PCP on her last visit and he was very impresed with it as he had not seen one before. I believe that this thing is the best investment I have made in a long time.

Bruce, do you know if they have a computerized necklace? My DH will not wear a bracelet but does wear the chain & "medallion".

Bruce, they do not have "medic alert" on their web page. What brand is it you have?

    to all inquires
according to the paperwork it is a care medical history bracelet. and it is also available in a keychain. I did not see the keychain but I aassume that it is similar to the bracelet. It has a USB connection and will connect to any computer with that type of connection. I don't know the cost of the keychain but I guess it is probab;y comparable. Alos in the paperwork is a tx # 866-798-4531 and they can give you the location of the nearest dealer close to you. I hope this helps.

I don't have any experience with this product, but it did look interesting. It's a dog tag style usb medical history necklace.

thanks Bruce D. and deb112958. Both of these seem very helpful. I am going to check into these as well as my dh likes to go walking alot and he also wanders. He has gone missing for up to 6 hours before. Thanks for the information.

For those of you with LO's who won't wear a bracelet and have no need for a keychain (which sells for $24.95) I found a Medical History USB card at CVS which is the size/shape of a credit card and fits into a wallet. They are currently out of stock, but it sells for $19.99. I plan on buying one for DH and one for me since this seems to be perfect for us.

LFL,WOW! Thanks for the info. I think I will check into the credit card one. My DH wears a necklace (in fact numerous necklaces) but sometimes he takes them off & "misplaces" them. I think I could sneak it into his wallet in one of the credit card pockets & he won't even know it is there. Thanks again!

Our local CVS just got in 4 of their medical history id cards (I bought all 4 because dh & I have medical issues) and 2 for sister and bil. They have alot of info to put on - insurance, doctors - medical dental eye other, meds, allergies, etc. I think we will be happy with this but as of now it has taken at least 30 mins for card to process info and upload. I'll let u know.

Question: do they have gps for locating wandering patients?

It uploaded all the info. The one thing that surprised me was that in the list of medical conditions they did not list Alzheimers or Dementia.

JeanetteB- they do not have a gps built into the card
