There are two armchairs in our kitchen, side by side except for a side table in between. Jeff is sitting in one, Chessie the cat is sitting in the other. Daughter (22) is across the room, computing on a tall stool at the counter.
Jeff begins to address the cat, asking her something like "can you tap dance?" Or something. Can't remember the exact topic. The cat does not respond in a meaningful way, (and the answer would be no, anyway.)
Daughter says "are you talking to me?"
Jeff looks at the cat and says yes.
Daughter says, "I'm over here. If you're talking to me, I'm over here." (It doesn't matter though. She can't tap dance either.)
That made me smile! My DH is always talking to our cats..and they love it. They listen with great attention to every word he says..gives me a break...if they could only answer...
My DH talks to our cat all the time, she is a long haired birman and loves to get brushed, so that keeps him amused several times a day !! Thank goodness for the cat, but she is a darling
My DH talks to Noche all the time. Noche doesns't speak people language but he does make litle chirping noises and then rubs against his leg. Then he says "meow" to Noche and pets him. I can't help but wonder what they are talking about. I think they are talking about me but I don't want to get too paranoid. :)
Absolutely! Noche and I have a very good communication system all worked out. It's really awfully fun. He has his little rituals. I have mine and we get along famously. What a love he is. So soft and warm.
