This is a great discussion! Mary, I read yours and was taken back. I think I have followed you in your footsteps. I too am a military brat and lived in El Paso, Washington, Ayer, MA and Germany as well as other places but to be in the exact places......whoa! I would love to talk to you.
Sometime this week or next, I hope to post the chart ( in the "connect with members" section on the left side of the home page) that one of our members made from this discussion listing all of the members and where they live. We seem to be missing anyone from Nevada, West Virginia, and Kentucky. I have heard from people in Hawaii and Alaska via e-mail, but they haven't posted. I've also heard from England, Brazil, New Zealand, and Australia. We do have posters from Canada.
One other in Montana - Thompson Falls I think. Jules, if I wasn't at a stage where I still wanted to keep confidential, I would ask for more information about your daughter. May be another time.
Even though we are in Pennsylvania now I was born and raised in West Virginia and my husband spent his younger adult life living and working in Kentucky. Imohr, you mentioned in one of your posts that at some point you took you husband to a neurologist at WVU and you referred to her as a "she". My husband also sees a neurologist at WVU that is a woman. Wonder if it is the same one.
Hey Mary in Montana, if you are at all involved in the arts such as the symphony or the music scene in Butte, you would have seen my daughter. I'm extremely proud of her. She is a little spitfire. I wish I could get away to come to Butte to see her. It seems like for a smallish town, there is always some celebration happening.
Hi, We are from Harrisburg PA area, Camp Hill. Nice to see others from Pa area. And for the gal from Upstate NY, I lived in Gouverneur NY (ST. Law county) up until 8 years ago.
Hi all you other PA people. We are in the extreme southwest corner. 5 miles from the WV line. A little town by the name of Wind Ridge, about 60 miles south of Pittsburgh.
jodiJ, I am literally at the other end of 309. I'm pretty sure I've seen where it literally ends at the north end of the highway. At that point it isn't a highway anymore. Just a country road.
Hi Evalena, I am originally from Upstate NY, Gouverneur NY (2 hours north of Syracuse) That is as upstate as you get without being in Canada. I've been in PA for 8.5 years but we still have a camp on a lake in NY (not far from Canada)
StephanieK-G I was just in Houma because of Hurricane Gustov. I was with the Oregon Disaster Medical Team and we were there for just over a week. We were set up in the abandoned Winn Dixie parking lot. We were remobilized the day before Hurricane Ike came by and flooded you again..Great bunch of folk there! Sandy D
I know just where you are talking about. Thanks for all of your help after the storms. It really has been a mess down here...again. We still have a lot of people from all over the country trying to help. People like you touch my heart and take my breath away. I can't wait until all of the tree mess is gone and my roof no longer has a blue tarp!!
There certainly were many blue roofs. I am always honored to be able to offer help in times of disasters. It makes me appreciate life all the more. Sandy
sandy D I never want to see another blue roof again. After several hurricanes in a row we ran out of blue roof tarps. Roofers weren't answering their phones if you could even get a phone connection.
I live in Pilot Hill, CA. It's pretty much a straight shot from your town to mine. I I live off of Salmon Falls Road which becomes El Dorado Hills Blvd and then becomes Latrobe Road and then turn left on Hwy 16. You are about 40 minutes from me. Joan has my e-mail. Feel free to get in touch.would love to get together.
