We live in Texas. A small rural community between Houston and Dallas. I wish we were closer to either of those cities because there are few resources in the immediate area. I do receive the newsletter from the Houston chapter of the Alz. Association. It would be an enormous help to be able to attend some of their courses.
I live in Amboy, Wa. Approx. 45 minutes north of Vancouver, Wa. I would LOVE to hear from anyone in my area!!!! I am 41, with 2 teenaged girls and no life of my own. lol
Hi. I wish I lived close to everyone and we could all go out to lunch!
Kristi Holding Fast, I am two hours driving time away from you in Marin. I live in Pilot Hill, CA in the foothills outside of Sacramento. Let me know if you would ever like to meet for lunch.
rglennon, I don't get down to Southern California much, but if I would definitely love to have lunch.
May I suggest if any of you want to get together, that you e-mail Joan and let her exchange your e-mail addresses and/or phone numbers? Betty, I would edit out my number if I were you. We don't know who reads here that doesn't write here...... I will admit to being extra cautious with my information. :)
Trisinger, I suppose we live midway between I-45 and I-35 possibly.. East/NE of Bryan-College Station. There is a caregiver 'group' that meets in Bryan.. which is in the Houston Alz.Assoc. region. I've attempted to attend but few attendees and the leader is often absent. Our county, Robertson, is in the Austin Alz. Assoc region but the closest caregiver group listed is in Waco.. About 80 miles away.
I will be in Arlington Texas from 7/7 - 7/16, as my Stepdad is going to have a Heart Procedure done on 7/10. After marrying my husband, we lived in Arlington for 10 years. My husband was an Airline Captain and was based out of DFW. After this we re-located to Las Vegas for 16 years and now back in Texas, living near the coast. My step-dad lives in the Huntwick area, near Young Jr. High and Martin High School. My Mom passed away in 2004, so, he is by himself and needs some help. Luckily, my daughter lives only 1/2 mile from her Dad in the NH, so, she will check on him everyday here until I can get back.
If you would like to meet for lunch, just let me know and we can exchange phone numbers through Joan on the website.
kathi37 - Our last home was Astoria, OR. We will be there from 8/2 - 9/9 at Kampers West in Warrenton. We have appointments at OHSU on 8/7. If any of this works it would be fun to meet you.
I will give joan my e-mail and work number to give to you, I would love to get together for lunch. Do you work in Davis? I work downtown sacto monday thru thursday.
Near Tampa, Fl here. Actually closer to Zephyrhills. It would sure be nice to find someone else from this area to maybe get to know. Gosh, I have felt so alone.
Gretchen, I go to dog agility trials in Zephyrhills!! It's at a site called Pasco Paws on Diana Dr. I just moved to The Villages in September. Our next dog trial is in October.
Val, I live in Danville , Virginia. I used to travel to Richmond fairly often for work but much less often these past few years. We have very little here in the Southside in the way of support groups, Day Care , etc. I would be totally alone without this group.
Not many from the north east.....I'm from Wilmington, DE. We're near Philadelphia and surrounding southern counties and also New Jersey and some counties in Maryland. Hoping for someone near by for a chat.
Not many from the Midwest either. I am from Minnesota. Seems like FL is well represented, but then I guess they have a lot of folks in the critical age for AD.
Unfortunately, I don't drive freeways, a fear I've never been able to get rid of after 2 back to back accidents, none of which were my fault. I'll never say never as my daughter usually gets me to where I need to be. If your ever up my way, drop a line.
