Welcome This2. Please tell us a little about your self and your loved one. Others will be along to welcome you and be ready to help in any way they can.
Welcome, This 2will pass. I'm from LI, NY but last month my wife and I were in your beautiful neck of the woods visiting the Hopewell Rocks! You've come to the best online site for people like us.
Haven't been back in quite a while - kind of sporadic. Linda Mc - are you still in Canton?? ms. magic - you're formerly from the Akron area. I'm from Boardman, a southern suburb of Youngstown. Ann in northeast Ohio - Toledo?
Nice to hear from another New Yorker! Looked at your info . Seems our spouses are at about the same stage and age.
I am so grateful to have found this website with others who share and understand. I am trying to find a local support group for spouses . I don't seem to relate to caregivers of elderly parents. Of course they face difficult challenges too. But, they feel very different to me.
Have you been able to find a support group in your area?
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Lorrie, instead of continuing to post here about our own personal situations, please email me at acvann@optonline.net and we can continue emailing each other offsite about local or personal matters! And, yes, I found an excellent support group that meets weekly in Port Washington at the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation .. it is solely for spouse caregivers!
LFL Actually , I am in Staten Island. Thought I saw you mention Flemington before. I've been that way many times. It is a short ride from here( under an hr).
MaryinPA, What a coincidence ! I bet there are more people around us with this disease than we can only imagine ! Berwick is a nice little town, very quiet and a country atmosphere. We used to own a farm with 600 apple trees that we took care of and every fall we would open for pick your own apples ! But when my husband got sick, I had to sell and downsize.
Although we live in NJ we share a summer home in East Madison, ME (near Skowhegan) with my sister and her spouse. Inherited from parents. My mother was born & raised in the Forks, now mostly known for whitewater rafting and we still have family in the Skowhegan area.
I live in Easton, MD...on Maryland's beautiful Eastern Shore. I am originally from Annapolis. My dream is to relocate to Charleston, SC to be near my grandchildren.....someday.....
It’s been a long time since I have posted here so wanted to see if anyone lives in Hampton Roads Area in Virginia or in Outer Banks area in NC? I am hoping to move to Charlotte, NC in next few years to be closer to my children. Belinda
Hi I live in Monmouth Maine.. I am thinking I might sell my house in the next couple of years, its getting a little hard to handle on my own and maybe start somewhere new...any suggestions...
Good morning, I'm not really sure, I am thinking about moving in the next couple of years, once my children are off and my parents do not need me, of course it will have to someplace that is safe for my husband, we have old large house and its a lot to take care of. I have always lived in the North but the winters are starting to feel a lot colder lately...lol
Mim, I am in Canton. I was just going through all these old discussions...reminiscing since Lloyd passed away a week ago and found you asking if I was still in Canton.
I skimmed several pages and didn't find anyone in Arizona, let alone, where I live, in the desert. Looking to find information on the very early stages of dementia. Do not know where to look.
Susanwalter - where in Arizona do you live? I am currently living in Nevada, but will be leaving here May. Considering either back to Washington or down to Arizona. There is another person here from Arizona, but can't remember who it is. My email is in my profile if you want to email me.
