Dog- that is amazing that you live out here, such a small yet vast internet world. I am on the west side of Minnetonka across from the Minnetonka High School off of Hwy 7 almost to Excelsior. Seems like you have more than your fair share with this situation. We will have to try connect although time is sooooo hard to come by. They need shots to be admitted? I never thought of that.
With regard to shots for day care--my husband's day care required him to have a negative TB test before he could attend but didn't ask for anything else.
That's the same test they want for my husband. I hadn't thought about it either until I was about to fax the day care form to the doctor.
Sherizeee-I was very suprised, as well, to see your location. I am about 1.5 miles from Wayzata, near 394 and 494. Lack of time is definitely a challenge, but let me know if you can do a quick coffee at a Caribou/Starbucks sometime. I seem to always need the energy spurt!
Patt K, I lived in Augusta back in 1953-54, out on Wrightsboro Rd. I'm sure the comlex has been torn down by now, but it was cute and fun way back then.
Diane, for many years the Clarion exit on Route 80 was our lunch stop on the way between Allentown (where our son lives) and Oak Harbor Ohio (my home town, where my Mom lives). I had no idea it was such a small town. Nice place to live?
JeanetteB - it is a great place to raise children and you can't beat the scenery. Our son and daughter-in-law say it reminds them of Bavaria. We first heard of it when we traveled between our home outside of Allentown and my family home in WIndsor, Ontario. It is a convenient place to stop. Right now if it weren't for the University it would be a ghost town as Owens Illinois just announced the closure of it's glass plant here which is one of the largest employers! Sad.
welcome Phil! just now seeing your post. we hope you find alot of handson pracitcal ideas that will help you thru your AD journey. many here before you and many after and some have finished their journeys. join in any conversation! we look forward to your posts. divvi

Welcome Phil and Sherizeee! If there is anything we can help you with, just ask! We have become a family of spouses with one main thing in common - spice with Alzhiemer's - at various stages and different types of AD and other dementias. We caregivers welcome you!! ((((((((((HUGS))))))))))
Sherizeee, Your dr most likely did tell you that Alz & FTD are different. Simply put, Alz starts at the base of the brain, FTD, starts in the front. If you use the search tab up at the top of the forum you will find all the info you could ask for. Take care and keep posting, Susan L*
I live in Virginia Beach,VA. I haven't seen anyone in here from this immediate area. My husband is 67 & I am 62. He has AD. He has 7 children & I have 2. None of his 7 children are here & most of them seem not to believe that he has AD, don't know anything about it & don't want to know. A few of them have simply written him off. His children are scattered from Maine to Florida & New York to Tenn. The ones that do still speak to him will maybe call Christmas & sometimes on his birthday, with the exception of his only daughter & his youngest son. My daughter has her own serious health issues, but she loves him like a Dad. Sometimes I wonder if I will survive his AD. I find myself wondering how nice is might be to develope amniesia. Sometimes I really hate to come home from shopping. We have no close friends here. He doesn't like getting friendly with neighbors & doesn't want them in our home.So I am very much alone in this. I am thankful for this site as I have been at witts end.Thank you for the opportunity to vent.
Welcome, Brennie. I wish I was closer, I'm in So. Cal. I'm fortunate that I have good family support. You have definitely found the right place to be. There are some amazing folks on these boards, and trust me, they care. My DH is 64 and I'm 54. Keep coming back! {{HUGHS}}
Welcome brennie. I live in Vanc WA but am in Manchester,NH right now. Just buried my FIL who died of AD. I am sorry about the family rejecting him but you are not alone. Many here suffer the same cold pain.
Welcome from me, too, Brennie. I also live in the Chicago area and my husband has possible FTD. I don't know what I would do without this place to vent.
I've been posting here for about a month, but I don't think I said where I'm from. I live in Mechanicsville, Maryland (it's about 45 miles south of Washington, DC) We have lived in the same house for almost 34 years.
I'm a newbie and learning my way. I didn't see any others from Georgia. My husband, Jeff, was officially diagnosed with dementia, most likely alzheimer's, almost three years ago. He's 59 - i'm almost 56. We live about 40 miles from Atlanta in Dallas, Georgia. I get so much from reading the message boards. Thank you all for sharing.
Welcome sisrael! I've only been here about a month, but it IS a great place to post your feelings. I'm 60 (61 in 5 days) & my DH is 63 & he was diagnosed about 4 years ago so I know how you feel!
Guess it doesn't really matter where we physcially live, we live closely in heart! Still glad to hear there's another close by in Georgia, andy. I don't post a lot, but I do read everyone's discussions. They help so much. I'm sure I'll jump in more as time goes on.
Maria, Glad you found us and hope you will find comfort here as many if not all of us have. We moved here (South Carolina) from Ohio 20 years ago. We lived between Springfield and Dayton. My DH is a Buckeye.
Maria, a big welcome to you. We lived in Lakewood before moving to KY when DH retired. He was with the Cleveland Clinic. I know you will find this site a wealth of information and support.
Hi SusieG. Welcome to the family. We are a group who will listen to your rants, share information and hold your hand. There's not much that we haven't seen or done.
I'm from Australia, not sure where my DH is along the journey, dx about 6yrs. ago. Some days are diamonds (well nearly) and some days are stone !! At the moment all the fuss is at night when it's time for bed, I'm beginning to dread the onset of night. Thanks for this web site, it is a beauty !

Tony-welcome to your new family. Sadly we are having a rough time today as we lost two spouses last night. When you see the * after a name you know that spouse is now alone.
