I stumbled upon this factoid while researching something else. I cannot vouch for this, as I have not tried it apart from in a second-hand way at several John Denver concerts in the late 70s. But, here you go:
"Research done by the Scripps Research Institute in California shows that the active ingredient in marijuana, THC, prevents the formation of deposits in the brain associated with Alzheimer's disease. THC was found to prevent an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase from accelerating the formation of "Alzheimer plaques" in the brain more effectively than commercially marketed drugs. THC is also more effective at blocking clumps of protein that can inhibit memory and cognition in Alzheimer’s patients, as reported in Molecular Pharmaceutics."
Yes, but smoking it will make you stupid. and give you the munchies. (LOL). No, really, Emily, isn't that interesting. I assume they are testing it in a pharmaceutacal way.
For every study touting positive effects of something, there seems to be another study disputing those facts. I have stopped paying attention to any of the studies.
I have stopped paying attention to the studies also. Until they find out exactly WHAT causes AD and other dementia's there WILL NOT be a cure...They need to keep their findings to themselves until they have solid PROOF! It gives everyone a false hope that a cure is around the corner. Just my humble opinion.
Agreed. One day something good for you is declared deadly the next. Like charcoal grilled food, red meat, wine, EGGS. Yesterday I read an article about EGG WHITES being bad for you. Well, I have to die of SOMEthing at one point (hope its not because of canned sardines and crackers or anchovies on my pizza). As for weed, it can be of great benefit to those living with the AD patient......just sayin'. Okay. I'll go back to my room now. (and, I DID inhale)
I thought it WAS required therapy???! Where've you all BEEN? And as for snake venom......well, I was in a health shop the other day, looking at holistic pain remedies (since I'm not allowed narcotics) and saw a product (a topical gel) that has Cobra Venom in it. Never heard of such a thing. Tried some other product which helped the nerve pain (my ulnar nerve, or what was salvaged of it) is quite near my skin.....and it helped, but gave me a rash like Poison Ivy! Will go back and purchase the one that has snake venom in it and report back. I'LL TRY ANYTHING FOR RELIEF!
I just want to say clearly and emphatically that I never inhaled that time at that Dylan concert. Oh, and or at the Stones concert. Or the Virginia weekend. Or that time at Susan's. Or behind the boathouse. Or in the garage. Oh god and at that IMAX. Jeramy's truck. The cabin. That field. The entire northeast. This region of space.
I forget my point officer. The tequila was there when I borrowed the Winnebago and that's not actually my dog.
You would have to have the officer interrogate your mate when they pull over the car and a cloud of thick smoke pours out the window as you reply, yes officer is there a problem?
