I think I am having trouble getting to the "acceptance" stage. Everyday I have the latest MCI/AD "news" dropped in my e-mail box. Most of it is the same old stuff. But today there's something new I though worth sharing. After my recent disappointment with beta-amyloid research, I'm happy to see a new "target":
"Neurological researchers at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago have found a new therapeutic target that can potentially lead to a new way to prevent the progression of Alzheimer's disease. The target called neutral sphingomyelinase is a protein that when activated, can cause a chain of reactions in the cell leading to neuronal death and memory loss.
Results from the study funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Alzheimer's Association will be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience."

Interesting article Mary. Maybe some research is heading in the right direction. Too late for our loved ones but hopefully there will be something for the future. Thanks for sharing.
