I went to Kaiser to see about a lift chair and they told me they run about $1000 and they pay $200 for the motor (I guess that means Medicare) and I pay $20 plus the balance of the chair cost. I have found some on the internet that are about half that price. But I don't know how to go about contacting Medicare to ask their help in paying for the motor. Can you tell me how to do this?
Are you also stressed out when you have to make these decisions?
    Thanks

You go to his doctor and he prescribes the chair and his office can handle the paperwork.....At least that is what my friends have done. You can call his doctor's office and ask...it can't hurt.

Medicare is very picky about paying for lift chairs. Call a DME company and ask them for qualifying diagnosis-then call your doctor and ask for that diagnosis to be on the script

When we rented a lift chair for my MIL following surgery, the rental store told us to have the doctor send a perscription before they deliver the chair. They handled all the paperwork and submitted to Medicare. They charged $100 a month and we kept it 3 months. I'm not sure how much medicare paid.
