We were up most of the night..DH peeing on the floor! Me mopping!! So, I think it will be full time Depends so he will adjust to them all the time and maybe not try to pull them down to pee. I'm hoping! Seems like things have progressed quickly recently. I'm wondering if anyone has ever padded the Depends with the waterproof pads and also maybe put Kotex next to the body? Just a thought. I know when DH pees its at least a liter of fluid!! Anyone tried this or is it a riduculous thought from a woman who has had very little sleep? (Finally got him to sleep in my bed but then I couldn't go back to sleep..)

I don't have the experience with this situation with my husband, BUT since I moved my father into the ALF next door, I have learned more than I want to know. Tena has a very absorbent overnight adult diaper. It has tabs on the sides - it is not a pull up. I haven't found a Tena pull up, but maybe others have. Maybe he will have trouble getting the tabs apart, and he will keep it on.

    Audrey,

I use the Tena extra long absorbent pad (that has plastic on the back, along with a stick'em strip to adhere to the Depends) and placing that inside usually absorbs most if not all. One time I overlapped two of them because we were going out and I didn't want him having an accident while we were gone! It worked too!

I also know about very little sleep.....until the doctor prescribed Ambien for my husband.....now we BOTH sleep!

i also use the tena overnite booster pads in the depends at nite. and plenty of waterproof disposables under neath. maybe something to help your spouse sleep would be in order as mary suggested. i think its better to get them used to depends earlier than later. my own opinion.

I'm watching this thread...and learning! Storing up info.

Audrey, I hope you get some sleep tonight. Have you ever tried melatonin? That works for me. As for putting the Kotex pad next to the body and then the waterproof stuff next, if you try it let us know if it works. Seems like a good idea. I'm going to investigate the Tena products. Much reading to do!

Here (in Holland) we use Tena pullups. So far they are all we need. They come in different sizes and strengths.

Anybody else have this strange experience: DH is increasingly wet in the daytime, but at night the pullup stays perfectly dry. Even if he sleeps till noon. He gets up at least once in the night to go to the toilet and then usually takes the pullup off and throws it on the floor, so it's lucky he does not wet the bed.

You'd think it would be the othr way round, that they would become incontinent at night BEFORE in the daytime.

Yes, the Tena inserts here, extra absorbent and long. Andrew uses a pocket knife to "stripe" them lengthwise through the backing and the tape, then removes the tape, so that the outer layer can leak through to the pull-ups outside it. We have the opposite of you, Jeannette, he's sopping in the morning.

Always remember: try to train them to keep the equipment pointed DOWN and preferably don't play with it!!!
