We all know there are good days and bad with this disease. We will be leaving for a much deserved vacation tomorrow. Yesterday DH asked what he could do to help me out, I asked that he clean the house and truth be told he did a good job.
What surprised me the most is when I came home from work he had gathered his med's , phone chargers, toothbrushes etc... together in one place for ease of packing. When I went into our bedroom I almost dropped over when "his" side of the suitcase was appropriately filled with his underwear, shorts , socks, etc... Typically I set our suitcase out a week before vacation. In the past he would not fill his side until the day of travel causing a trip to Walmart for items he "forgot" to pack- this was before the official diagnosis. After he was diagnosed I had to pack "his" side the day of departure, so this was indeed a first for me.
DH has had a really good week, and since he is still in the early stage of AD I''m looking forward to some alone time with him. I can't bring back the "old husband", but the "new normal" husband it's that bad- at least for now!
Wow, Trish, that's great. Have you found him any better since finishing the trial? Now that he is off of the trial, has he been getting regular infusions?
Hope you're enjoying your labor day. DH gets infusions every 13 weeks and has been on the real drug since the end of last year. I would not say he "better" but he's definatly not much "worse"(if at all). He gave up driving awhile back but since we live less than half a mile to several shops he is able to walk to get his hair cut, or pick items up from the store if I need him to. When I leave for work every morning he asks what I need him to do. Ninety percent of the time he remembers the task, diong most of the house and all of the lawn chores. We can still have meaningful conversations, even though sometimes I have to repeat what I've said.
I'm hoping the drug is helping him and others, especially after the many failed drug trials.
