brindle, go on line to www.drleonards.com. and check out the quilted waterproof bed pads. The twin size is $14.99 and the full/queen size is $17.99. I have been using them for over 6 months and found them satisfactory. I ordered two in case there was a problem in the night and the pad had to be changed. It has saved me a lot of time washing sheets.

Suggestions please: My husband fights tooth & nail when being changed...so he needs either adjustable or some sort with tabs, so he can be changed standing up or laying in bed. He still is very mobile, so something that will stay up when walking. It's really hard to find a good fit. When he was at home, I used the Tena brand which I like, however, that is no longer an option.

Wow, I just read the topic 'when do you start depends' and now this. Everything you ever wanted to know about poop although to bluedaze*'s point, no it doesn't feel like yesterday when I was trying on sanitary napkins. It does feel like yesterday when all my friends were howling because I had to go to the corner store and buy them for my mother. I got straight A's on the foreskin questions though.

It's amazing to have these personal feelings of - well - avoidance, when all of you are talking like you're exchanging recipies. I'm sitting here bravely nodding that I'll need some clorox and a bed pad and pull ups and tuck them away.

This falls into the category of bungee jumping and skydiving for me. Suck it up soldier, I guess and...jump!

    Kudos to all of you.

Has anyone tried the disposable pads? There are some made by Medline that say they can keep the urine from the skin but are pricy and a little small (21 x 36). Right now I use WalMart but still have to use two and was wondering if that is why my dh is wet in the am. maybe the leak is so much on the pad that it goes up the t-shirt. Was thinking maybe I need a better disposable pad.
So glad I don't have the poop problem as yet. I was think that today when I kept changing my dh. Seems like he was peeing more than usual and it kept leaking and getting the chair padding wet as well as his undershirt in front. The Attends have the side guards but he still manages to leak out! Yes, he is pointing down. Thanks Bama for the website info.

brindle our hospice supplies the disposable medline pads they are good but not enough to contain wet leaks on their own . i use 2-3 of them every day two up/down on bed and one a cross. AND i always use a cotton waterproof pad under the whole thing. i also have used a large cotton towel over his depends area before pulling up his bedding over him to absorb any overflow. most of the time it works and alot of the time the towel is wet in the morning as well as the under pads- most of our issues is the apparatus winds up shifting in mid nite pointing up which we know is no good! hahah= but we try new ways to see if things work better. its never ending to keep them dry at nite.

I just don't try anymore. Assurance briefs, with a long Depends overnight inside (great Divvi), disposable pads (you can buy the extra large size, 30x36, at Rite Aid drugstores, and usually they're big enough IF they are directly under him (the wiggling around getting him settled is the problem). And a cotton waterproof pad beneath that - again, the very large ones, 36 x 48 or thereabouts. And t-shirt and in the winter flannel pj pants. AND EVERYTHING IS STILL WET every morning!!

I decided to try the Moliforms as the pad last night and was pleasantly surprised to find one wet and the t-shirt dry. They keep the moisture away from the skin. I ordered the Medline pads today to try. Should receive them by next week. I know they are more expensive than WalMart, but if they work, they will save money and keep dh dryer.
