I forgot to add, they gave him Risperidal, Depakote, Effexor, Ativan, Klonipin, all in a cocktail. The admitting Hospice Rn said your husband is a mess fro over drugging. They have not liked it, as I have decreased it to just Risperidal, Effexor and (Klonipin, PRN). His behaviors are at times looking for me and last 15-20 minutes. His poor brain is crazier with all of the different meds that they have given him.
ckkgram can you ask for a team care conference ASAP to discuss meds. Have hospice nurse included. I was part of my husband's care team and had to ok each drug given.
sometimes when they try to treat with various cocktails its worse than before. we know not all AD persons tolerate the 'regular' med for behaviour issues. its a try and see take to see which works and which doesnt. i agree with bluedaze call a meeting asap to include all prescribing drs and get input from the hospice nurse. how hard that must be seeing him like that and nothing can help til they sort thru this. . i hope they iron it out soon and he can function better and settles in soon. can you try hospice at home and get extra help to care for him once his meds are ironed out? if you find the right cocktail maybe having him home would be a possibility. divvi
I would question why so many psych meds were added at once. I would also question if this is the appropriate facility for him, if they drug the patients so much.
