I don't know if it is this heat or what but my DH is showing some very tiny red dots mostly on his legs. They don't look like bites or a rash but are here and there mostly on the front of his body. I have a couple and know they don't hurt nor do they itch. Are they sun spots? Sometimes his face gets very red. No temperature.
DH is also sleeping a good deal. He sleeps all night and then off and on during the day with a 3 hr nap after lunch. He takes very little medication. I have him on Boost as well. We walk at least 30 minutes every day. Tried taking him out after dinner, but I think the changing lighting freaked him out so have not tried this again.
The skin (around the inner thigh by genitals) is taking forever to heal (pealing skin) from the diaper rash even with Lamisil and Desitin.
brindle it may be a good idea to get him in to the dr. its probably a fungus and needs an rx med. not sure what the dots could be if you have them too. divvi
brindle, I have had a rash in the groin area for over 6 years. The one time I had insurance for 2 months I asked the doctor about it. She took scrapings to check for fungus and when it came back negative, she gave me an antibiotic ointment and said if that didn't help she had no other suggestions. I thought I had developed an allergy to the elastic in the legs because I also battle the rash under my breast. That seems to happen when I sweat. I use A & D ointment you find in the baby area. I apply after every shower and that keeps the rash at bay. You can tell I have had a rash there because the skin is a different color. My hb has now developed the rash along the panty line and genitals - I have him put the ointment on it. Desitin and zinc did not help, only the A & D ointment.
I had a rash under my breast and the gynecologist said it was a yeast infection and to use over the counter ointment for yeast infection. It cleared up in no time. The same thing works for groin infections.
Thanks for all of the comments. I began using the A&D and then bought some Desitin. I use the A&D during the day (no smell) and the thick Desitin at bedtime. With it being so hot, he sweats a lot in the area and I have him wearing cotten underpants with a guard in them during the day. This of course means I have to get him to the bathroom frequently which he does not appreciate. The doctor said this would eventually clear up. The redness is gone but the pealing seems to just stay. The jock itch cream/spray helped a lot. I've used it myself and it was recommended one time for my daughter by her OBGyn.
I thought I would put in a new comment as I found something that is really good for the rash. A friend told us about Butt Paste. You can get it at WalMart and at the Market. I was reluctant to try it but finally gave in and am so glad I did. Give it a try. No bad smell and lasts all day.
My dh has been having issues with itching on his arms and upper back. In March the Dr. said it was heat rash. Then my dh began making it all bleed. The nurse practitioner put him on a antibiotic and skin lotion which seems to be clearing it all up. So glad we got Palliative care to help us. Just knowing someone is there 24/7 makes a difference.
brindle aricept made my DH skin rash and severe itching. they can develop intolerances to these meds over time. maybe ask the dr if its a side effect of meds. divvi
Another good ointment is Balmex found in the baby section..it is in a tube and in a tub..I used it when I had to face the colonoscopy exam...and it worked like a charm. Used it first BEFORE drinking the cocktail and had no side effects from all the "trips"..the doctor and nurses thought I did not take the cocktail..fooled em.. I like it better than A& D or Desitin..I think it is a little bit thicker but easy to smear where it needs to be.. Also if your LO starts having problems with the runs...as sometimes they do, after the first episode use it liberally and they won't suffer so much burning feelings.
