My dh is having trouble with his liver numbers not being right. Our pcp has been doing a number of blood test and a liver ultrasound. Both liver and gall bladder seem fine and both are working fine but the liver numbers(what ever this means) is elevated. Dr. will be doing more blood work in 7 weeks. Hep C. has been ruled out. Dr. said if the next two blood test come back good but the liver numbers are still high he will order a biopsy to rule out cancer. Question.......... has anyone had a loved one on Aricept and their liver numbers were off? We are stopping the Aricept for 7 weeks until the blood work is taken. Up to now I don't think the Aricept is working, but have kept dh on it just in case. Any suggestions from anyone are welcome.
mammie - from just googling it I found that it can cause problems in the liver. It is more that other drugs/diseases can compromise the liver so it is unable to metabolize aricept like it should. Since the liver is the cleanser of the body anything could affect it. Let us know how it turns out.
Yes, arciept can raise the liver enzymes and some statin drugs can too. My husband's liver enzymes are checked every year for that reason. So far they have always been in the normal ranges. But, I believe the would stop the medications if the levels raise too much.
thank you both so much. I do not feel bad about taking dh off of the Aricept. I don't think it is working and I am also not wanting this to be put off. I hope that does not sound horrible but we will love each other while we have each other in body, and once that is over, we will love each other in spirit. I don't need to physically see him to love him and I don't want him to suffer if he is called home sooner. I will keep you posted....
