anyone have any knowledge of Clare Bridge Brookdale Senior Living Centers? We have one close by an sales manager was here the other day telling me all about it,she also told me that if I was a veteran we could get almost $1000 a month paid for LOs care, really sounds good but would like to hear from someone that might have had dealings with them

ol don - if you do an advance search for Clare Bridge you will find postings. Gmaewok had her husband in one. I am sure those familiar will be on soon.
We have a Clare Bridge here in Sarasota, FL, and I used to take my little doggie there once a week to visit the patients. I got the feeling that it was probably quite expensive, a lovely facility with good care. The people I saw in the main area were mostly sleepy and in the late stages, I'd say.
ol Don, My mom moved into a Clarebridge facility in December and I have been very pleased with the care she has received there. I looked at EVERY (or so it seemed!) facility in Western New York and feel that I made the right decision for her. The physical facility is designed so perfectly for those with memory impairment. Bright, active, very little feeling of being "locked" or hidden. This was one of the biggest draws for me. At many other assisted living facilities, I felt that the memory care was done behind locked doors and the assisted living residents without major ALZ issues received the bulk of attention and activities. My Mom is included on outings to go out to lunch and touring around. There are many in-house events, art, music, games. etc. One of the best features in my particular facility are the activities planned for families and community. This means planned, fun events to attend with your LO and family to create fun and memories. For instance, sleigh riding in winter, Easter brunch, Mother's Day Tea, local stores and vendors providing shopping events and many others. I still have a teenager at home and he is happy to go to these events and sees his Grandma there at least once a week. The staff is young and enthusiastic and they have a personal connection with the residents and families. The facility has a connection with a terrific geriatric practice (Mom has been going for a few years) and the nurse practitioner makes scheduled regular visits to check on the patients. Physical therapy has been provided to alleviate arthritis stiffness and my Mom is always clean, (this had been a problem prior), her room and bathroom are spacious and clean and her she receives help dressing and occasionally cleaning, adult diaper issues. Best of all, she had made friends (!) at her level, maybe more like companionship but it's really a positive thing for her and also me. I have also become very fond of many of the residents and their families so it is easy to visit and enjoyably stay. Ol Don, I hope your local facility is as nice as ours. I see spouses who visit every day and Clarebridge has made them feel welcome and comfortable. Good luck with this difficult decision. PS Amazingly, in my area, the cost is comparable to other facilities so not more expensive, just a better focus on this special group of people.
Ol Don, PS My husband has EOAD and he enjoys visiting my Mom at Clarebridge and attending the events. If and when it comes to placement for him, I would consider Clarebridge as a first choice.
