I was in the middle and was tried to be the peacemaker - I took the blame, got the beatings with the razor strap instead of argue even though it usually was one of my siblings that did it. I know I will eventually have to be the one to take the step to mend but it will never be the same. We had been estranged for years because I was reacting to her divorce (for another guy). I idolized her and my world was broken with it. More to the story but we had rebuilt it the last few years until she decided to conspire with my daughter against us and then the thing with my son. But that is life.
We are watching 'Dancing with the Stars' and about every 5 minutes hb asked if this is the final show of the season and it is only 20 minutes into the show -ugggggggggggggh.
What a wonderful, wonderful day! My sister FOUND THEIR DOGGY last night! Just one mile from their house. Thinks someone took her, discovered she was sick, then dropped her on the road because she wasn't full of burrs or anything. She was a little dehydrated, but that's all! Miracles do happen.
DH was so happy to hear this and is in such a good mood. Hope it continues throughout the day! Have to go to the grocery store (his favorite place) so maybe he will be happy all day! LOL
Great news Vickie, I am so glad your son is doing well.
It hasn't decided if it wants to rain or not here! I went to the pharmacy for the 3rd time in a week for a prescription. I wish they could get them syncronised! Tomorrow we are going to Bob Evans for breakfast and then to Sam's. I swear half my life is in the pharmacy and the other half is getting groceries. DH has gone back to bed...he ate breakfast and then went for a walk so I am hoping he is still "with it" when he wakes up.
Vickie i am so happy they found the little dog! aww. i bet they watch her like a hawk now.
its sunny here but humidity is stiffling. everyone is surely looking forward to the holiday weekend. we dont have any plans this weekend but next weekend my grandaughter graduates and we will have a family party for her at a local restaurant.
DH is doing ok after the uti and is eating and functioning fair again.
squirrleys babies, scooby and squiggy were here today and they are really cute little guys. run thru the trees at high speeds playing chase. then run together and hug. i have never seen 2 squirrels hug.aww.. its so cute. scooby comes regularly for handouts but squiggy feeds herself and doest beg. hah. squirrley is looking suspiciously chubby. i hope not!
took a prime rib out of the freezer for sat and will make it along with loaded potatoes and salad and cherry cobbler alamode.
hoping your week goes well and your weekend better. jean i know i spend half my time grocery shopping too!
aww for sure at 90lbs!! haha. i will think of you when i feed squirrley next time~(G) you are surely invited! i am amazed how much she can eat. i give her a whole piece of bread doubled over with pb/jelly and she eats it all and comes back for soemthing else! divvi
Just found out that my son will be coming home from South Korea on June 18th. His teaching contract is up and he was going to stay for another year but will now wait a bit to see what happens between North and South Korea with all the tension that is there right now. I haven't seen him in a year so I can't wait :) It will be a great Father's Day present for my husband.
SO HAPPY about the dog!!! YEAAAHH! Cleaned my barn most of the day...it's a good thing to work off anxiety. Looking at a John Deere tomorrow...another reason for stress. I don't need additional cash woes. My pony going to a new home this weekend. Sad here. Imagine giving away your dog or cat companion.
Another cool rainy day - still in the 50s for high. They are forecasting sunshine and up to 70 for the weekend, then back down to the 50s and rain.
Called the hospital to check on FIL - he has rebounded again. temp is gone, he is opening his eyes, eating and drinking. Go figure.
Sad that Art Linkletter died but he had a good, long life. I read he had a stroke in 2008 so that probably started the downhill slide. Loved his 'House Party' and always thought it would be fun to be on the show. I still like when you find clips of the show in the internet - still funny after all these years. I think kids now a days are too ??? whatever to say such cute things. they try to make too much sense I guess.
Went out early this a.m. with my good neighbor. We both had to go to hospital to have blood work done for varying reasons. Then to the John Deere dealer......I now own a small green tractor! Power steering, everything. It will be delivered sometime this afternoon. Plumber coming. Have to go to the grocer. Having a friend for dinner tonight and a movie here (Netflix came...'Crazy Heart', I think). In between all that, loading debris in truck, continuing cleaning out hay storage area. Geez, I wish my dogs could stand up and do some work, too. VERY pretty here and sunny. Will be hot (s.w. Virginia). Have to wash one pony that is going to live with his own little girl this weekend. (*sniff*). Everyone have a fine day.
Thanks, folly. Hope things are going well for you too.
Hot day here; just got back from a 75 mile trip for ovarian cancer screening. DH talked all the way up and back - read every sign and billboard. LOL When I came out of the examining room he asked if my mammogram was okay. I just said yes. Now, here's worn out and came in and is sitting in his recliner with Millie on his lap.
Vickie, I hope the news from the screening was good. I think I commented on my happiness on Facebook about your sister's dog....I get confused and sometimes to it both places!
Charlotte, I agree...Art Linkletter was a big part of our growing up and I loved his shows....and kids will still say the darndest things - sometimes!
Divvi, my prime rib didn't get here!!! Maybe the FedEx guy ate it!!!
Give Squirrely and her little ones a PB&J for me!
Stunt girl, please be careful on that new JD!!! My husband was a big JD fan...he loved them! Enjoy!!!!
late checkin today from Tx. its hot humid and very sultry out but sunny so i guess thats something. temps are heating up with each hr. i got to get out yesterday and went to see the movie Sex and the City. it was fun. i hadnt been to the theater in yrs. we used to go all the time so going brought back nostalgic times.
i am now swamped with squirrels ! scooby and squiggy are demanding pb /jelly sammiches just like mom now. haha.. they come earlier than mom so they dont get their butts kicked (G) for encroaching on her territory. oh, and i was surprised to find squiggy is a boy. ha. 2 boys this time. they are cute and are getting really tame quickly. i dont know how i am going to keep up with all the feedings. scooby has started throwing himself on the screeen door when he sees the sammich. i am trying to show him some manners but hes not listening. he wants the pb on his own terms not mine!
i hope everyone has a decent holiday weekend. stay safe and hoping your spouse has an easygoing time as well.
deb112958: So glad to hear your son is coming home. Not seeing him for a whole year must have been so hard..., especially with what's going on with your husband.
Late checking in today. My husband's day care had a BBQ today which families were invited to for Memorial Day. Had lunch there and enjoyed talking to the other family members. A cute elderly lady took a shine to me and wouldn't let anyone else help her with getting her plate of food. The RN there thought it was pretty funny. I found out that my husband is the one who says grace before lunch for everyone on the days he attends. That made me happy :) He can't tell me anything that goes on at day care, so all I have to go on is what the staff and his monthly report tells me.
A beautiful day here today to start the Memorial weekend.
My son was admitted back to the hospital yesterday; fever spiked to 102; UTI; low blood pressure. Did CT Scan last night and MRI this morning I guess to check on the transplanted organs. On IV's and changed some meds. The day before he got called for jury duty - 600 miles away! So had to go through getting doctor's letter, etc and send certified. What a day for him! Not so good for me either, and DH kept getting so confused about everything, so I just quit talking about it and told him Son was fine. Why do I keep TELLING him things like this????? I know he can't remember it. Open mouth before brain gets into gear, I guess.
Vickie, it's hard to break habits of many years. It's a repeated blow to be jerked up short, realizing DH has no idea what you're talking about. I'm sorry to learn about your son's hospitalization and hope he's quickly better.
Vickie, I do the same thing and then ask myself "why did I tell him that". He doesn't remember and it is a pain in the neck to go through all the explainations if you try to pick up on a previous conversation...if you can call it a conversation!
I agree it's difficult to stop talking to spouse as we always have. I generally make things worse for me, and he's gone on to something else. Very sorry, Vickie, that your son's had a setback; hope it's a temporary one on the way to full recovery.
Let's see last Sunday little one got sick, he missed a whole week of school, vomitting, the runs and fevers as high as 102. Then on Thursday daughter came down with it. Friday Mom joined in. Took little one to his therapist on Friday as he seemed to be over it and on the way home he vomitted in the van, OH JOY! Mom seems over it already and has gone plant shopping with Dylan. Diego and daughter are still laying low, and now I've got the chills, nausea etc. Aghhhhh! Needless to say I've cancelled our company and my ceilings won't get painted. It's 80degrees out and I'm sitting here in my recliner wrapped in a quilt, sipping tea. Hope I dont pass it on to any of you :o)
Deb, loved the story, made me smile.
Enjoy the holiday, HOME OF THE FREE........BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE!
Vickie, I do the same thing. This oil spill in the Gulf effects the life of all my children. Son, daughter, and a grandchild are all directly affected because with out the tourists their income suffers..It also effects my favorite beaches at Gulf Shores, Pensacola and Panama City. He cannot understand why am watching that stuff on TV. I tried to explain it to him and of course that was not successful. I am praying for you and your son.
Thanks to all of you. Just talked to my son - not doing good. Fever back up - pancreatic fever - is on morphine drip, so was sort of out of it when we talked. They will be taking the staples out later today from his surgery and said he will be in the hospital another couple of days. So...hopefully, it isn't too serious or I don't think they would say he would only be in there a couple of days.
Susan, I would give my right arm to give him a big hug - but he's 400 miles away from me. I did tell him about this very powerful group though! He was awake enough to say "thank you" to you all.
Vickie, your son and everyone else with ails.....hope and praying for healing soon. Everyone try to stay well (wash yer hands, don't touch stuff) and enjoy the long weekend. Luv, Jen (wish one or two or three of ya would consider a visit....things are shaping up around here and pretty nice, if you ask me. Of course, I've not been vomiting lately...:0....)
Sunny and warm here in PA today. Sounds like we are going to have a nice holiday weekend, at least weather wise. Spent the afternoon at one of my grandaughter's (I have 8) birthday party. She turned 17. Also spent some time with Macie. She is 11 days old and a little beauty. I am looking forward to taking her to introduce her to her grandfather soon. Hope everyone has a great week end. Hope your son is doing better Vickie.
Vickie, my granddaughter had her first and second heart transplants at Emory Hospital's Children Hospital (Eggleston). The problem we had was that she felt so well those times, it was hard to keep her down and away from (germy) people. They are loaded with anti rejection drugs to give the new organ a chance to move in and settle down...and during that time they have zero immunity. This time, she was so desperately ill by the time her third heart became available, with kidney's not functioning, and liver problems, it's been hard to bounce back. It is just a million times harder to keep these young adults down after their surgeries...different from when Krissy was 6 and 9 yearz old and had her first transplants. She came down with a liver disease that is similar to what we call MONO...,many kids get it..they call it the "kissing" disease. But, in her situation, it's much much more serious. I can never say anything, OF COURSE, but Krissy was up and attending parties during the holidays (see her Caring Bridge site) and I'm sure there were hugs and kisses...plus with her fiance...and she developed this problem that requires a PIC line in her neck that goes into her heart and she is receiving in home IV's ...and it's almost June..(Transplant was in November I believe.) They absolutely MUST slow down, regardless of how they feel,...we know that. Usually, they are just so happy to feel better, they want to shout from the rooftops. Prayers for your son....he's in a wonderful Hospital.
Good morning to all even though I am writing this at night.
Another cool, showery day. They have changed the forecast for Sunday from sunny, 70 degrees to showers and mid 60s. :-(
Had 4 year old granddaughter stay last night and I must say it was the most un-fun. She challenged me constantly and wanted something to eat every 1/2 hour. This morning she was awake at 6:30. The agreement is that when she wakes up she is quiet and reads her books - naught! When my kids were growing up they were teenagers before they were allowed food anywhere in the house except the kitchen. Not with my son's 2 - they have been brought up to eat anywhere and food is everywhere including the floor. This morning she had banana, apple and bread crust on the floor. Everytime I turned my back she moved from where she was suppose to eat (not a whole lot of room in the motorhome). I was so glad when she went home. I hope next time is better or there will not be any overnighters.
Chatted with my estranged daughter last night. She finally called her kids that she abandoned but only talked to their aunt who does most of the care for them. I was upset cause she told her and the kids about hb being sick. She claims she said only sick but I don't believe her. I am not happy because I wanted to tell them in my own way.
To my friends who've watched Krissy's progress...Did you read that she has the big MAP in her home now...and it reminds her of all the people who thought about her and prayed for her when she was so sick. I'm proud to say many many many of the out of state flags came from all of you dear people on Alz. Spouse. Thank you so much.
