This morning my dear sweet Ralph left us. The last week he was in a swift decline and stopped eating on Friday. My daugher was able to fly in yesterday and we were both at his side when he took his last breath. I will write more later.
Very sorry for your loss, Darlene. Know though that you accomplished the goal. Ralph was able to go with dignity, enfolded in your love and caring. Alz took him but it didn't win. Comfort and Peace to you and your family now.
Thank you everyone for your kind messages. I can be comforted to know Ralph is no longer suffering. He was a dear man and my best friend. I will miss him.
The last week we saw a very sharp down turn in his health. His body was wearing out from this terrible disease. He stopped swallowing on Friday and then on Sunday morning he took his last labored breath. He is now whole and in a better place. I am so thankful for the care he received in the home he has been in for the last two years. This has been an eight year journey. He was only 58 when he was diagnosed.
I am surrounded by friends and love. We will have a Memorial on Saturday and the family will all be here. Next week my granddaughter graduates from College and we will be back together in Florida for her graduation. She was so dear to him, and he would be so proud.
God bless all of you going through this disease with your loved ones. My heart and love goes out to each one of you.
Darlene, I'm so sorry for the loss of you dear Ralph. No matter how prepared we think we are, we never really are. Please keep posting, take a look at the Widow/Widowers thread. We are kind of gathering together and supporting each other there too. Arms around, Susan

Darlene, haven't checked in here for a few days but am sorry to hear this news. Thinking of you and your family now. Hoping for peace and comfort as you go through these next days.
