Just returned from the 14th Annual "Night of Wine and Roses Gala and Silent Auction"... a fundraiser black-tie event at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel in Poughkeepsie, NY for the Hudson Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Met many wonderful people and bid on some great items. I got to bid for a signed Derek Jeter jersey... I dropped out when the price hit $1600.00.
It eventually sold for $2200. It may actually be worth that much... it will certainly become worth that much. Jeter is destined for baseball godhood. He is a guaranteed first round Hall of Famer and I am a died in the wool Yankees fan. Maybe I should have kept bidding.
The best part of the evening was the opportunity to meet so many people who have done so much for the cause and to network for our own fundraising efforts. My daughter is like a magnet and people kept coming to the table to meet her. She has raised over $11000.00 for the Memory Walk in the last two years and she is now on the MW committee for the hudson valley. She makes me proud.
Here is a link to the facebook page for the dinner. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3620507&id=269633337678
I am the one on the right Daughter in middle (obviously) and the man on the left is Peter Brent the gentleman who started these diners in the Hudson Valley 14 years ago.
You are welcome and thank you all for the compliments. Kathleen, my daughter is the one shining light in this whole mess of a disease. I am so proud of her and I could not function without her help.
