Mary, You aren't suggesting you are a fool are you? You just have a sense of humour which we all need a lot of times just to get through the day!

I hope everyone has a Blessed Easter with no major problems with our LO's.
  2.
I think spring has sprung and after the winter we had, we certainly deserve it here in southwestern PA. Lots of sun and temps in upper 70s and low 80s forcast for all weekend. Hope the Easter Bunny hops down the trail to everyone out there.
  3.
We are finally back in the "Heat Index" charts rather than "Wind Chill" charts. I guess spring has finally sprung!!!

Now comes the stormy season but at least we'll be warm....this has been the fourth coldest and second snowiest winter on record in North Texas.

    Take care everyone.

Gorgeous day here in NW IN. I'm going to scrub the deck and bring up the deck furniture. Then plant some $1 tulips I bought at Wal-Mart. Yesterday I battled a grass fire that started from a "leak" (rusted hole) in my burn barrel. That activity (running around the edges, beating it w/a shovel, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera) singed front hair & mildly burned arms (today they're mostly fine). I'd planned to go to farm store 24 miles away because it was sr day, but decided I was too tired from fire fighter work and didn't care about mulch today. BUT hb said he'd like to go because there was something he wanted. OK we went because he can't drive, and I'd told him I'd take him wherever yada yada yada--those of you who's mates no longer drive know all about it. He kept asking why we were turning here or there or where we were going!!! Commented how nice it was to see different countryside. He's been on the same road many times. We entered the store. Hb: I'll just follow you. Me: What do you want to look for? Hb: You know. Me: No, you told me you wanted to buy something here, but you didn't tell me what. Hb: Just keep going; I'll know when I see it. Ok. He bought a that is one (1) bottle of coke. That's it! Obviously, he didn't remember what he really wanted.
    Gotta fetch my broom.
  4.
Just a reminder for you ladies...today is April 1, and you need to renew your license and registrations for your brooms..... Flying without a license or registration is a serious offense, and your broom could be revoked.

Beautiful day here in Chicago area. We tied the temperature for the warmest day on April 1--82 degrees. Was going to do yardwork but got lazy and have just been enjoying the warmth. Took hubby for a walk around our subdivision and have just been sitting on the backyard deck. Know it's not going to last but will enjoy it while it's here.

A drop-dead gorgeous day here today! I've been sick with a horrible head/chest cold for almost two weeks, and it felt so good to sit in the sun today! I almost feel among the living again. Just had our back covered porch painted, and got it set back up, so grilled out tonight. I have to say, DH was very good while I've been sick. He was very helpful - quite unusual, because he normally would "get sick" also. Not this time, thank goodness!

Hope you all have a glorious weekend and a great Easter.

I missed yesterday visiting my husband at the ALF...due to the stomach flu. UCK! I was feeling better today, I went to see him around dinner time. He was doing fine, however, he could have cared less that I was there. I am happy he is adjusting so well, however, it is heartbreaking that he seems to think the aides are his family.
    Very good day for him!

The following is probably the best April fool joke I ever saw....and she did it twice, first my daughter, then to me....I nearly called in the national guard.... This is an exerpt from my daughter.
Best part of the day. Half way into the nap my mother calls me crying hysterically. She tells me: Two men came they took it. They took that thing. More tears more screams. I ask her what thing thinking a car or something. I ask her why she let them in. She says they just did for Dad they came and took it. My favorite, its gone gone gone. I ask again what thing. She says the Ding ding ding ding ding thing. Totally confused I ask her again a few objects. Finally it dawns on me -Oh the piano, I say. Yes-the piano they took it its gone. At this point I tell her I need to go call 911 thinking this is theft happening and I am about to wake both kids. I run to get my keys, my purse, and gather the stuff for the kids when I hear a faint chuckle and she says hahah it is that day. My mouth drops as I realize that I just got fooled by my mother. Nothing can take the smile off my face today. April fools day was always a day my mom had fun and it has been three years since she has tried and only one other time in the last year has my mom shown any understanding of humor. Thanks to my uncle for letting her know it was April Fools Day. Since his phone call, she must have spent that time figuring out something to do. Classic-truly classic.

She also called me with the same thing, as I was sitting in the doctor's office for my 6 mo check up. I grabbed the phone and almost called 911.....I thought it had something to do with the "Baker Act", and I could not grasp what she meant for "That day"....she got totally phrustrated because I did not realize it was april 1, and when it dawned on me, I knew that I just had a stroke and a heart attack.....It was NOT phunny....but to her she giggled like a four year old....
Never underestimate the power of EOAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rest of you are having spring, we are having winter. We had our spring during the winter months. The rains pour, the wind blows and they are getting numerous feet of snow in the mountains. Skiers are ecstatic cause they have great snow to ski in - if they can get there!!

Art has taken to sleeping more and staying in bed. He is bored so sees no reason to get up. Will be glad when the weather improves so he can cut the grass or whatever.

Lovely weather here too, in RI. Thank heavens! Everyone who didn't have to evacuate has the contents of basements spread out drying all over the place or sitting where the garbage men can take them next week. So much for prettying up our neighborhoods for Easter!

Lovely weather here again today. Husband went to daycare and I treated myself to a pedicure and manicure. Wonderful having someone pamper you.

Talked to the VA today to see if I could get approval for a third day for my husband at daycare and was told that there is a freeze on adding days due to funding. Hopefully that will change for the fall. More things I can do with him now with the weather getting nicer, but cold weather makes it hard to find things to do.

Tomorrow I have to make scalloped potatoes to take to my parents' on Easter. I always make them the day before because sometimes it only takes an hour to bake and others a couple of hours, plus they do taste better the second day. Also, going to try my hand at making some candy from a recipe that looks pretty easy--uses a crockpot.

    Wishing everyone a happy Easter!
  12.
Beautiful weather in Louisiana also. Warm but not too warm, sunny and plenty of wind. All the wind trying to chase out the cold of winter. Hope all of you have a blessed Easter and wonderful month with your loved ones.

Divvi, maybe I missed it, but have the baby squirrels been born yet?
I'm having the interior of the house painted - parts of it haven't been done since 1956, yes! - and you would think with all the clutter and smells around, I'd be going nuts. But it's nice to have three 50-year-old painters around (one is my youngest son) and listen to the banter back and forth, it makes me realize how much I miss the normal, ordinary world. And to think that someone is doing something nice for me that I can enjoy! It's like having the shoe on the other foot.

It's 6:30 am and I am sipping my coffee wanting to sneak out to a yoga class before my husband gets up but I know I can't. Feeking kind of overwhelmed and drained from the last two weeks after meeting with an elder law attorney, touring a facility with adult day care, assisted living (with memory care), and a nursing home. The reality of the situation really set in after I came back home and my husband was wearing one pair of pants over the other, and also a ski parka (though it was beautiful and 75 outside).

I will spend the morning trying to assemble papers for the tax accountant for us and my Mom, which should have been done weeks ago. Then I will do all the inside and outside chores. The house and yard are a mess!.

I will also try to make an Easter basket and hide some Easter eggs outside for my 2.5 year old grandaughter coming tomorrow. In theory, that should be fun but I do find it hard to enjoy anything anymore as all the illness issues/responsibilities seem to overwhem the joy.

P.S. Sorry to sound negative this morning. Thanks to you all for your helpful posts the past few weeks. It does help!

Good Morning from sunny and warm South Carolina! That sounds good doesn't it but we have pollen by the truck load!!!!
We need a good rain to wash it away so if those who have too much rain could send some this way I am sure everyone here would appreciate it. Living in a condo there is no spot to hook a hose up and spray your car. The best chance of rain is Thursday and that is 20%. Once this pollen has gone I am getting my car detailed.

I hope everyone has a great day and an even better Easter.

And a good morning here in Texas too. The wind isn't blowing, sun is shining and a pair of bluebirds are working on their
nest. I've seen a few bluebonnets in the area but there are probably more further to the west. Easter pictures in fields of bluebonnets will be exceptionally nice for some this year. A good day to all I hope.

Top o th mornin' to all! Raining here in NW IN this a.m. Wish I'd planted wild flower seeds; this would give them a good start. Spoiling a cook-out our granddaughter & her husband have planned for a family gathering of about 16. But, they say, we'll just eat inside, so there:) Hb didn't know where our "mud room" is today or what I meant when I asked him to get the dog leash hanging in there. He's losing more everyday it seems, but he looks fine physically; so sometimes I think I expect too much.

Oh my, we had such a bad storm, rain/wind, this morning! A funny thing happened - sad but funny. A cemetery is across the street from our house and people have been bringing flowers all week. When this storm hit - it started blowing flowers across the street onto my lawn! After it was over, it looked like I had planted artificial flowers all over my grass! At least it was colorful!. I hate this for those who had put it on gravesites, but don't really know what to do - if it ever quits raining!

May you all have a great Easter day and peace to all.

Gorgeous Day here in the Lakes Region of Maine (inland from Marsh). Spent the day watching my daughter and brother try to put up a new basketball hoop that she bought for the boys, lots of laughs. My brother continues to repair my house, God Bless Him. We are going out to eat tomorrow, as I am not ready for a family celebration at home yet. Tonight we color eggs, oh boy!

Lovely spring day here in PA again. Took Charlie outside after dinner at the facility. He seemed to enjoy it. Hasn't been outside since last summer. Going to Easter dinner with daughters and grandchildren tomorrow after I take Charlie the Easter basket that I am sure the Easter Bunny will leave here for him. My lilacs should bloom in the next few days if a frost does not come along and get them.

Gorgeous day here in Rhode Island. I was on the "good" side of the bay that almost cuts the state in two; where I was there were no flooding rivers. But a lot of rain and my basement flooded to about 3" (which it has never done before) with the water coming up from a crack in the foundation. We had to do a lot of pumping and then yesterday wet-vacuuming, but by this morning (Sat) it had receded enough that we didn't need to do THAT anymore, just run fans and open windows and let it air out. Nothing of value lost and a lot of clean-up done by the ever-resourceful Andrew. I even took L. out for a ride today, although I couldn't really tell if he liked it or not. He was in a bad mood because I made him change poopy pants before we left.

But: I've gotten an offer of $500 for his academic mathematics books, I managed to get a big calendar project off to the printer, so life is good.

Happy Easter and Passover to everyone from Virginia!! I'm at my Mom and Dad's in Newport News for a few days. I got a lot done over the past week (including ousting my "house-mate" on Friday) and will be here f0r a few days. My seasonal alleries got worse the further south I traveled yesterday. Benadryl is my friend and I slept like a baby last night. I miss my home when I leave it...my sanctuary. When I get home, I'm ordering rock for my lane and going to get a few scoops of mulch for around my house. Something neat...a helicopter photography company brought ar0und a photo they took of my farm (the central portion where my house, barn, garden, etc. is). SO cool. I'll post a picture of it someplace where you can see it when I get home. Thinking of you all. Love, Jen

I'm generally opposed to beating dead horses. It takes too much energy and serves no purpose. On the other hand, I don't mind making a fool of myself - have done so on many occasions - but would prefer others not do so for me. For the record, and I'm sure this is important only to me, I posted my question to Sunshyne regarding clarifying the Alzheimer Association position on editing/deleting posts on their forums while that thread "sharing information" was still viable. The thread was subsequently closed down, but via a post written before my own, and then edited after my post was submitted. I wasn't looking to stir the pot and would not have posted after the thread was closed.

Good afternoon from Tx/ our weather man made a huge mistake and said lovely sunshine for easter-WRONG-fog gloom and rain for all the easter egg hunts! egads. i am sure he got his due. haha. well my escapades with my squirrel population has changed alot in recent days. last week i came to coffee and saw not one but TWO squirrleys!! ahah. omg, she has shown her preggers daughter where to beg for goodies! i thought that one was smaller but never thought there would be duplicates. ahah. squirrley has since visited MUCH thinner and within 5in ofmy glass door i see she has been nursing babies in some unknown part ofa tree.. (GRIN) so yes i conclude i am grannydivvi to tiny baby squirrleys -the daughter is much more skittish and has only recently come to the glass door for a handout. and yep she likes peanutbutter too. aww. you can tell squirrley is much seasoned veteran now and eats next to the door the other runs off. maybe in a few wks i will see the family out and about=i really dont want any more visitors but since the daughter is having babies i think giving her some good treats is ok. so thats the update on squirrley and co!

my mom came for easter and we had a fun day out with retail therapy. DH is holding his own and so far maintaining. hes still a hooligan but smiley and so sweet.

My next door neighbor has bird feeders out, and I noticed Blue Jays and Cardinals yesterday. They are "snowbirds" - come down here for the warm winter weather(they were sadly disappointed this year) , and then fly back up North. Guess they don't think it's warm enough up there yet.

Folly, I think everyone knows that you wouldn't put anything on a thread that said it was closed!!!

All of us just want to learn about this disease, how to best take care of our spouses, to vent, to laugh, to cry and to have our "family" here around us.

I realized that when my grandson leaves this summer, I won't have a relative in the state to list as my "emergency" contact!!! One is seven hours away, one is eight hours away and the third one is in England! So, a friend who lives here is going to be my contact ("ICE") person, and she'll call the kids and make the arrangements necessary until they arrive..the two men can fly here in a couple of hours....the daughter in a day.

I caught my husband's drippy nose and cough...and now I'm hoarse and lightheaded...and missing a day of work for illness for the first time in years! I don't like to cough. It hurts! (Yes, I'm a big baby! - Really BIG!) LOL

I hope you all are safe and secure, and especially those in California - please be safe. We're having perfect weather here and I can't even enjoy it ! <sigh>

Since it was a warm sunny day in Indiana today, I decided when I visited my husband I would take him for ice cream after lunch. This was the first time he had left the ALF, since he was placed a month ago. He seemed to enjoy being outside, however, he kept falling asleep in the car & wasn't disappointed in the least when we returned...almost like he was relieved. I probably enjoyed the ride more than him....but it was still nice.

Well another warm day in Connecticut with very warm ones (80+) for the next two days. I fear my daffodils will have a very brief showing this year due to the warm weather. They do look fabulous and I cut some to bring into work so I can enjoy them longer.

The cats and dogs just had a ball over the weekend with me home and the beautiful weather. The cats were rolling around on the warm concrete and the dogs just enjoyed outside time with Mommy. Their drinking fountain has been set up so they are now very happy. Note: Their drinking fountain is a 3 level fountain in the back yard. They like to drink out of it together. Given a choice of a fresh bowl of water or the fountain, they will go to the fountain.

I even managed to get a bit of color over the weekend along with several aching body parts from doing too much (sweeping of the sidewalk, washing windows outside, pulling a few weeds, etc. along with the housecleaning and laundry). The color was tan from the sun not dirt.....

So far the allergies have not bothered me too much but I expect that I will need to start taking the Claritin soon enough.

I did get my new hearing aids over the weekend and am in the process of learning the hear certain sounds again. I can even her the turn signal in the car blink now! The last visit to the audiologist was sort of upsetting because I am now labeled profoundly deaf - 100% loss in left ear and 70% loss in the right ear. Even with that loss, it is amazing what can be done with today's hearing aids to help improve hearing. Many sounds are now too loud to me and I need to do some serious adjusting to all the input.

Get well soon to all of you sickies and please do not send any more germs out to the rest of the country.

All of you with that laryngitis, congestion, cough--take care. DH had it and is now over it, but I caught it 2 weeks ago--In less than 36 hours had absolutely no voice for 3 days, then congestion, drainage and coughing started. Coughing got so bad I had bouts where I couldn't get my breath. Called the Dr. and got a different med.--but too late to avoid an injury. YES COUGHING CAN INJURE YOU. I spent last Mon. morning in the ER--thought I'd popped a hernia. Nope--just a torn muscle in my abdomen. "It will heal itself in a couple of weeks." In the meantime, cough control med, Vicodin for pain, and "brace the area with your hand or pillow".
Do that last one while walking with crutches--if you can figure out how please let me know.
I bought an abdominal binder to help. The second one does. The first one was returned. 12" width plus two flaps, extended from hips to armpits--I'm just not tall.
    Get better soon.

We had a nice Easter with dinner at my parents' house. Weather was nice for most of the day then we got some heavy rain with lightening. Today has been a nice day also, so I took my husband to the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago and saw the most beautiful spring display and then went for a walk in historic Oak Park. He's quiet now, so I know I tired him out. Tomorrow he goes to his monthly lunch with his two older brothers and my mom and I are going to hit the resale shops.

Our Easter was very, very nice at my daughters' house. Everyone contributed to the dinner so my son-in-law wouldn't have to do all the cooking (daughter doesn't cook, unless she has to).

But, as usual, it was a battle getting him out of the house on time. Dinner was supposed to be at 2. We were supposed to be there at 1 for appetizers, etc. It takes 45 minutes to get there. But, because it takes him so long to get ready, we didn't GET there until 2:15! There was no talking on the way there because he was mad at me for "rushing" him and I was so upset I didn't speak because I was afraid I would get him riled up even more. Oh, how I wish I could get him out of the house at a decent time so we could do something like you did, Deb. But, by the time he's ready, I don't care if we go or not. Of course, he didn't remember the morning, so on our way home everything was fine and he was saying what a good time he had!
