My dh watches a lot of tv and the volume was driving me crazy. Even with closed captioning he still kept it on so loud and I could tell he still wasn't hearing it that well. I ordered tv ears from amazon for $60 and QUIET rules the house. It's a god send. The volume can be turned all the way down and he can wear the infrared headset and hear quite well. He loves them. I love them. Can't recommend too highly.

Terry, I second that. I have two sets here, and have recommended them to others. They're also useful if the caregiver wants to listen to the television and the AD spouse can't tolerate the sound.

Yup, we have two sets. One for the den; one for the bedroom. Check these out - http://astore.amazon.com/wwwthealzheim-20/search?node=60&keywords=wireless+headphones&preview=&x=19&y=8

I can sit in the den and read a book, while he is watching TV. We can be together, and I don't have to listen to the TV. When we are watching TV together, I don't have to be blasted off the couch from the high volume.

I'm so glad I saw this! I'm going to do some checking. My DH can't hear very well and the loud TV which he "listens" to rather than watches is very distracting to me. My DH's eyesight is very bad and I can't deprive him the pleasure of listening. Thanks to all about this..I had seen the ads for TV Ears but didn't know if they were worth the money.

My DH has been turning the tv volume up for months. If anyone is in the room and starts talking, he turns the volume up because he can "hear" the tv over the conversation. I don't think it is a hearing problem, but rather a cognitive problem. The more complex the tv show, the more characters, the faster the scene changes, the louder he turns up the volume.

Anyone think this might be the problem their spouse is having rather than a hearing problem?

PatB.... I have the same situation at this house... I thought he was going deaf,, I certainly was and the neighbors, as well ,so I bought the "EARS"... Inside of one day, with DH cognitive problem, he had that thing in 15 pieces...I couldn't return it and find of late, most of the things I buy for his comfort ends up dismantled and a waste of money... I suggest, having learned the hard way, that before buying any of these things that you go thru it to see if HIS/HER mentality will adjust to it or if their reasoning button is shot, then don't buy it..
Thanks all for your support... loveya

I checked this out. I'm losing hearing and I'm the one who keeps the sound loud. Since I rent rooms to college men, some have complained and others coming into the house complain. But the info said they may not work with HD sets--I just recently got one. Does anyone know, has anyone used it w/HD?

Yes, absolutely. We have one of those big flat screen whatevers with HD, and the headphones work great. I gave the Amazon link for the headphones above. We got ours in Sharper Image, but they went out of business, so I'm not sure what other stores have them, but it's easy to order them from Amazon. Here's the link again - they seem to have quite a variety. http://astore.amazon.com/wwwthealzheim-20/search?node=60&keywords=wireless+headphones&preview=&x=19&y=8

I had been working for years on TV eyes, with no success. I tried TV NOSE, but it did not sell at all.
I tried TV MOUTH, but again it bombed...I sure wish I had started with TV EARS....
But I am not giving up.....just wait till you see TV LEGS...it will follow you around the house so you can get some work done.....

Costco sells TV Ears online for $59.99, which includes shipping and handling.

I paid $60 at amazon for tv ears. Preferred those to the other infrared headsets as these fit under your chin as opposed to over your head. Much easier to get on and off and no hair mussing. Worth every cent and then some.

HD: Yes, it works with our HD set. I think there may be a couple different models so just make sure you order ones which work with HD and also LED or Plasma if that's what you have.

We've had it about a week now and the difference in my life is unbelievable. I knew the constant blaring of tv was annoying but I had no idea what a difference it would make to have it GONE. DH loves it, has thanked me many times (unusual for him), and never watches without it.

My g'son set up my TV ears tonight. What a difference! Not only am I happier because I can hear things clearly, but so is everyone else in the house so they don't have to cover their ears. DIL shops at Costco, she got it there & had a $10 coupon so it only cost $50. Thanx Terry for mentioning this, I am so happy. I sound like an ad.

They are Great! Also, if your LO is disturbed by noise when trying to sleep or whatever else he/she is doing, TV Ears can let you see your program, without distturbing them.
