It's been awhile since I posted-----old computer breathed its last so bought & set up a new one. Had a week without computer (other than checking my email via webmail on daughter's laptop when her laptop was occasionally available). We were away for a few days / got home and then some unanticipated family happenings! But I've been checking in and reading most posts. Sometime in the last month or so I think I read an article that someone (Marsh???) posted that was about a study that looked at medications for those with AZ and how using two meds together gave better results which in turn was helpful for reducing caregiver stress. I told a friend about it and she'd like to read the article but last evening when I looked for it, I couldn't find it. Does anyone remember it and know which discussion it was in?? Thanks so much.

The only meds that I have heard of working better together is Aricept and Namenda but there may be others. Perhaps if you do a search for either one the article will pop up.

Rachelle, I brought it to the top (ttt) - Combined Therapy Helps Caregivers.

You can also google it. Try something like 'benefits of Aricept and Namenda together. You will find articles on studies and from the drug companies telling how it could work better.

Thanks so much everyone for your suggestions. Marsh, thanks for specifically identifying the topic for me. My friend will really appreciate it. Her husband has AZ and she doesn't have a computer so I've offered to share (print up) comments & suggestions that I think would be helpful for her. She was very interested to read about better results using two medications in combination (rather than just one med as her husband currently is on) especially if it eased things for her as her spouse's caregiver.

My husband has been on Namenda (added to galantamine) for about 1 1/2 months now and I have not noticed him stabilizing on memory loss. Just remember the sad part - the drugs only work on a portion of our spouses, not every one. :-(
