I really like the "throw away anything that needs ironing." I think this is definitely a man thing. I tried to explain sorting clothes to my older son before he went to college for the first time. His response, "M-o-m, I'm not dumb! I can figure it out by myself!" You guessed it! He came home with pink underwear!

I am a 'all wash and wear' woman. If it can't go in the washer and dryer, I don't buy it (includes bra and panties). I do separate the whites from darks, but other than that the darks are separated into two piles (during the summer one because shorts take less room). The towels get washed with whatever pile is smallest. Since they are yellow it doesn't matter and I was in cold water only. When hb worked I did iron his perma press shirts cause they looked better, but other than that I don't iron anymore.

I avoid buying anything white if possible.I have a big selection of the brightest panties I could find.Of course, now all the rage is crazy colored bras.So I have only colored or dark loads. I use only cold water, works good for me.I try not to press anything.Hubby threw my ironing board out, said it took up too much room. All the more reason not to iron.

I do about three washes a week of my husband's clothes on HOT, bec. they're always wet. The bed pad sometimes gets wet and it goes in too. I long since stopped paying attention to the slightly grey tshirts. My own clothes, well, that's different. Anything but things that need ironing!

I remember when my firstborn was given cute little outfits (1960). He wore them once. Before I got around to washing them and IRONING them, he'd outgrown them!!

Not knowing how to do laundry must really be a man thing. When my husband's first wife died and he finally had to do a load of laundry he put everything together in hot water and bleach. Said he ruined every shirt that he or his son owned except the ones they had on. He could cook and he could clean house but I think he married me for my laundry skills. I also vote to throw out anything that needs ironed.

I have to dust my ironing board before I can use it, There have been times when I actually forgot how to open it because I haven't used it for so long. Downy makes a spray that gets most wrinkles out. Wonder if I can use it on my face

I wonder if I'm getting a little slow--I just started taking my tableclothes to the laundry/drycleaners to have them ironed. They do a fine job and hang them on hangers for me. 'ts the only way to go. I also send DH's dress shirts out now. However, he doesn't wear them anymore. He only wears sweat shirts and t-shirts. I try to get dressy t-shirts when I can find them.

Bluedaze, please let us know how the Downey spray works, as I'm thinking there are a few of us here who would gladly undergo some de-wrinkling. (-:

Mawzy, it's called energy conservation - YOURS! Great idea letting someone else do the tablecloths and shirts. Good for you.

I remember when my kids were teenagers (4 of them) and I did two loads every day besides weekends...and all children had to check all pockets before placing items in the dirty clothes hamper. My son grabbed a load and threw it in the washer...with a ball point pen in his pants pocket. It ruined everything in the washer....over $300 worth of clothing. The cleaners couldn't save anything...

Bluedaze, we're all waiting anxiously for the results of the Downey spray.

Mawzy, I have been taking my comforter, but I like your idea of adding the tablecloths! All shirts are permanent press and don't need ironing, thank goodness!

When my children were young I taught them to look in the mirrror,if possible, and use stain stick on all the spots they could see. I also taught the grandchildren the same, it works wonders on stains. Now all five of my grandchildren are in college and still use stain stick.unfortunately Hubby doesn't do it but I just take Spray and Wash to his jeans. He is always working outdoors and gets messy. But I am so happy he can still feel useful.

I use Downy a lot. It's wonderful. Just spray it on the wrinkles and pull and smooth the garment. A lot of times my shorts wrinkle but they're not ready for the laundry yet. If I can get another wearing out of them, I just spray on the downy. By morning I'm good to go.

I use Downy too - all the time. It's great.
