I haven't posted in a while cause nothing is going right anymore. All is upside down...why isn't that a surprise to me? Getting more calls from Adult Protective Services and Social Services, now from the county where John's NH is. I just point them to my attorney. Seems as though my DURABLE poa and all else has been revoked because I have been deemed "an inappropriate advocate" for my husband and that I do "not have Dr. Canton's best interest in mind". You'd think I've been busy making trouble of one sort or another. All of this is the result of ONE conversation about John's care....that I disagreed with the continuation of all of the bone marrow biopsies, transfusions and other probings that only prolong and not FIX his blood disorder...the cause of which isn't even understood yet. I understand that the docs and nurses are interested in preserving life, but I am interested in his QUALITY of life, not the length of it at this point. The nurses argue that when they explain his conditon and the need for these treatments, he understands and expresses a desire for it. I disagree and see a skeleton lying there, mostly asleep, not interested in the world around him. At times he tells me he wants to be left alone to die....when he DOES talk. I think they ask "leading" questions that guarantee the answer they want. Yep, keep that bed filled and paid for.
Still having a problem getting the Medicaid approval. They are now asking for yet ANOTHER five years of back documents!! I've already gone back to 2005! All kinds of financials....tax records, mortgage loans, credit cards, bank statements.....I don't even HAVE that stuff. John never kept any records!! Seems like even social services is having a hard time believing that John has nothing....like maybe I've misappropriated large sums of money. This is unbelievable.
AND ANOTHER THING....... In the last week, I've taken in a boarder. She was suggested by two mutual acquaintances that know and trust her. She is suppossed to be an RN. Does anyone know how to find that out? There must be some sort of registry (or one that lists disbarred health professionals). I met with her several times and seems like we get along well enough. She was to barter work (as in house work, laundry, etc) for a room in my home and a place to park her camper (27' LONG!!). Hasn't happened. The two times I asked her to feed and water the horses, she "oops, forgot". She's very neat, makes her bed, doesn't leave any of her bits around, leaves the room the way she found it, buys her own food, etc. I know she smokes like a chimney but never in the house. SHE'S ALWAYS GONE, so I can never talk to her about my concerns. I'm very vulnerable, an easy mark. She has a key to the house, garage door opener for one side. I do know she isn't working. SAYS she got her license back recently....how'd she LOOSE it??!! Lots of unanswered questions I should have asked, but just wanted someone around and someone to help me. I've found out she's been living in her truck and in RV parks for the past couple of years. WHAAAAT? Why? The other day I overheard her on her cell phone telling someone she was going to "plug in" here and live in her RV. NOT. Not even legal to do that in this county if I even said okay. I need to have the big talk with her (if I can ever find her here...always gone), rehire my housekeeper, regain my composure. Not be so stupid. (I'm serious about the Registerd Nurse registry by state....If one exists. I'd love to know if I'm being told any fragment of truth....and why she lost her license in the first place. Info appreciated.....marsh?)
I would talk to the mutual acquaintances that know and trust her. Let them know that it has not worked out as agreed and possible they can intervene if they know her so well. If they are not willing to support you on this then I guess they really did not know and trust her.
Hi...Most states are now on line with nursing registries. You can go on line and see if person has a valid up to date license. Also they list names of nurses who might be on probation. The site is usually the Deaprtment of Heath/Nursing Registration. That she has not worked and said she recently got her licence back....sends up an alarm for me as well. The reasons that licences are revoked are mainly due to drug diversion, or other substance abuse issues. Since she told you she had her licence pulled did you ask her why? If she is being open and honest maybe she is trying to solve her problem and return to work. Nursing is a pretty recession proof job, if she is not working and wants to, there is definitely something wrong.
