I watched this segment on Oprah about eating organic food. I decided to try this and I think it has helped my wife by being more stable. I see less bad days. I think the only thing we changed was I diet. We eat less processed food. No preservitives in food. I cook everything. I use butter and olive oil. I cook 1 fresh green everyday. I use brown sugar, brown rice and bake bread. I use unbleached flour and whole wheat for bread. I cook oatmeal for breakfast and pour it over a handful of frozen blue berrys and some brown sugar. I really think this is helping her.
I saw the Oprah segment also. I can't speak to the organic part, but I do know that I feel more alert, have more energy, and think more clearly when I eat fresh fruits, vegetables, and grilled fish and poultry. When I eat my preferred diet of chocolate brownies, cookies, and milk chocolate candy, I feel sluggish, and I can't concentrate as well.
This is NOT to suggest that eating healthy will cure or prevent Alzheimer's Disease. Just that it is good for everyone's all around health.
moorsb - you do all of that fresh cooking???? You want to come here?
