    Good Afternoon Everyone,

Last year, I posted this information, and many of you participated. Dr. Carey Sherman of the University of Michigan is continuing her study on remarried caregivers, and needs more participants. If you are in a 2nd marriage (3rd? More?), and are now caregiving for your husband/wife, with all the problems that come with his/hers/ours, finances, guardianship, emotions, etc., see the details below:

    Study of Remarried Spouse Caregivers
University of Michigan researchers are conducting a study on dementia and Alzheimer’s caregiving experiences of spouses who are remarried (in a ‘second marriage’). Interviews with remarried spouse caregivers will be conducted by telephone and scheduled at their convenience. Interviews include survey and open-ended questions and takes between 1-2 hours to complete. Participants will be compensated for their time. Participation is completely voluntary and all information will be kept strictly confidential. This study is funded by the Alzheimer’s Association and approved by the University of Michigan Institutional Review Board (UM IRBHSBS # HUM00014471).
For more information, please contact Dr. Carey W. Sherman, study director, at (734) 763-4993,
or by email at careyws@umich.edu or caregiver@umich.edu

I would love to participate, but no way can I do a telephone interview. I really don't understand why, with all the technology out there, it can't be done on the internet. I hope some of you here who would qualify can find the time to do it. Maybe the research will help someone along this terrible road.
  2.
What is the definition of a late-life remarriage? We are in late-life (relatively speaking), but have been married for 32 yrs.

Vickie - call or e-mail Dr. Sherman and ask her if you can take it on the Internet. I'm not sure, but she is very nice and easy to talk to.

Marilyn and Susan L - call or e-mail Dr. Sherman with any of your questions. I'm not sure of the exact criteria of age or how long married.

One of my friends is on her 4th husband. I'm pretty sure she participated in the survey last time.

I talked to Dr. Sherman last year - very, very nice - but they weren't doing it on the internet. She said she would e-mail me if they ever changed it.

Left a message for Dr. S. with all my info--we'll see what she says.
