Last night when Kathryn stood up to walk after having been watching a TV show she became upset. When I went over to see what the problem was there was blood flowing freely down her leg and a pool of blood at her feet. Her shoe was full of blood and when I cleaned her up and got the bleeding stopped all I found was a pin hole in the lower half of her leg so small that if I had not seen the blood coming from it I would have never found it. It was a good 15 minutes before I could get it to stop bleeding.

I am going to contact one of her doctors today and ask about it. But I would like to know if anyone else has had this happen to their Loved One?

    Thanks,
    JimB

Jim, is Kathryn on any sort of blood thinner or aspirin therapy? If so, that could account for the large amount of blood.....Calling the doctors sounds like a good idea. Let us know what you find out.

Sandi, Kathryn takes Aricept, Namenda, Folic Acid, B12, SlowFe and Glugaphage (not sure of the spelling for this one), She isn’t on any aspirin therapy or blood thinner unless it is in one of these.

Anchor I just came accross your post. Could your wife have gotten ahold of a pin actually punctured an artery in her leg. From your description that is a aweful lot of blood.

Thanks Thunder, I will check it out.

Bluedaze, I was there when she sat down and everything was normal. She been sitting there for about 2 hours when she saw the blood. I checked her jeans to see if there was something that might have been caught in the fabric and ffound nothing. After I got it stopped and got her cleaned up and calmed down I cleaned the jean real good and found nothing then either. It is turning out to be a real puzzle.

I called the doctor and he had me bring her in. They removed the band aid an couldn't even see where she had been bleeding. They did a blood test and are having it checked out. They are as puzzled as I am. There doesn't seem to be any reason for it. They will call me when they get the results back and let me know what they are.

It may be just one of those thing that happen in life that isn't related to anything at all. We may never know why it happened. However, I will be watching close for a while to make sure it doesn't happen again and if it does the doctor said to call and bring her in right away.

    Thanks
