My dh is still stealing cookies when we go for lunch at Furr's Cafeteria. I talked to him about it again, bringing up the lack of character and to stop doing that. I thought I had gotten through to him. But he's just gotten more cagey. I know he has stashed them someplace in the house. Just don't know where. The other day we ate there. His jacket was zipped when he left the table to go get some food. When he came back, the jacket was not zipped, exposing his shirt pocket. I couldn't tell whether he had his usual cookies in there just by looking from across the table, but the fact that his jacket was unzipped was telling. That was how he could get at his pocket to put the cookies in there.

Gosh. I know I should just stop worrying about it and let him do it. He must be about 5 years old mentally to continue doing this, in spite of my talking to him about it 2 or 3 times, telling him to stop it.

Hanging On, I am VERY aware of how embarassing this is to you!! I also can't help but smile - I'm sorry....

Remember, he doesn't remember your talking to him AT ALL - and being 5, doesn't see the crime in it...Talking to him from now on does not register.....the reason button is broken.

I suggest that you buy that kind of cookie and have it at home for him to eat whenever he wants it, and in fact, buy him some at the cafeteria. Eating cookies isn't going to hurt him and it would save you a lot of stress. That might keep him from taking extra.

Today we ate at Furr's again. On my way by the cookies, I grabbed four of them, went to the table, and put them down beside him. He and I laughed at that. Then we ate them. Grin.

That's what I was going to say. Get some on the way in, and say "we're going to buy these, ok?" Preemptive strike.
