Just got a call from a friend who (HERSELF, not a FOAF) had been made extremely sick (diarrhea, rectal bleeding, emergency room etc) apparently from the rolaids that she took. She found that her package was on the recall that P&G has been expanding over the last few days; it was in the paper - but enough of us take these OTC meds it's worth checking out. The list includes lots from Rolaids, Tylenol, SimplySleep, Motrin, Benadryl allergy, and St. Joseph aspirin. (It does NOT include the generics you get at walmart or the drugstore, apparently. In fact my Equate bottle of arthritis pain reliever specifically says it is NOT distributed by McNeil.
The website to check your bottles against is:

Until I looked mine up, I hadn't realized how completely I'd gone over to generics!
I think you are referring to the Johnson & Johnson recall. Not only that, they are being sued by the U.S. dept. of Justice over kickbacks involving Risperdal. They gave kickbacks to assure that their drug was the drug of choice in nursing homes. Just google Johnson & Johnson, Risperdal for the complete story.
The McNeil product recalls include various Tylenol products, Rolaids, and several more. The above site will take you to the whole list. Fortunately, the tylenol that DH takes is not on the list.
The McNeil consumer Health Care Products is a division of Johnson & Johnson. The FDA has sent a warning to J & J for violating manufacturing standards & failure to respond quickly enough. The other action against them regarding Risperdal says J & J swayed medical professionals to use a drug that was often not in the best interest of the patient.
Yes, that's what bothers me. Apparently it happens all the time, especially with psychiatrists getting kick backs of all sorts. I just know that a lot of people on this site have their LOs on Risperdal, and it would be wise to check into it. Is it really the best drug? I don't know what the alternatives are, but it is worth checking into to be on the safe side. Also, thank you Briegull for alerting the site to possible tainted drugs. Everyone should check the list to prevent becoming seriously ill.
risperdal is now generic, so if it is helping I would continue to take it. My husband got worse on risperdal and now takes seroquel (which I wish was a generic).
