I adopted another new dog recently. A little mixed breed. He's the same age as Emma, about 5 years old. He has just fit right in. They play together, and it's so cute. Emma, who as many of you remember, was so emaciated at 39 lbs when I adopted her in July, now weighs 64 lbs. She's tall, so "Cooper" (I named him that, for Anderson Cooper on CNN) can walk right under her. We laugh so much at the antics of these two adorable dogs. It has been so good, to get Emma a playmate. A wise decision. Having the dogs is such a stress reliever, in these times with probable FTD or Picks in the picture with my dh.

There is nothing like the love and companionship of a dog. Good luck with your new baby. For more on dogs, type "dog" in the search engine at the top of this page, making sure the "topic" circle is filled in. FOURTEEN different discussions on dogs - they are pretty popular around here.

The kids are trying to convince me to get a dog or a cat. I guess they think it will be company for me, but I think of a pet as being something that I am going to have to take care of. I don't want to have to take care or anything or anybody for a while. I've had enough of caring for something.
We had a cat for eighteen years and she died just months before DH. I just don't want to have to do it again right now. Maybe later I'll get one because they are a lot of company.

I really don't need one because the kids all use me as a doggie kennel. In the last three weeks I've cared for daughter's cat, friend's dog, daughter's dog, the cat for the second time. I just said no to daughter's three dogs because I will have friend's dog again next week while her husband is having surgery. They will be staying here while he recovers because they live four hours away and the hospital is near me. I didn't thing he would recover with four dogs and a cat running around in my little house.

I do love dogs and cats; guess that's why I can't say no.

Joyce - sounds like grandparenting to me with the pets. Keep them just long enough to enjoy, spoil and send home!!
