Yesterday, my friend, whose husband just passed away, showed me what I thought was an excellent tip, and I want to pass it on to you. I had no idea she did this - she had never mentioned it before.
She had a pile of those "My Companion Has Alzheimer's" cards in her wallet. On each one, she had stapled a small (1 square inch) picture of her husband, and on the back of the picture, his Safe Alert ID# and Safe Alert's telephone #. She said if he had ever gotten lost in a store, she would have called security and given them the card and picture.
Also check out the "The Top Ten Caregiver Tips of 2010" on the home page in the Breaking News section. They address the care of elderly parents, but the tips apply to all caregivers. There are not really any new ones that we haven't discussed, but it's interesting reading anyway.
