Thanks Joan. Someone who loses a spouse in the early stages to a secondary condition will clearly be dealing with the sort of sudden grief wallop that any sudden death can deliver.
Still, it is my dirty little secret that I'd pick that out if I could, and so (if they could rationally choose) would most of our AD spouses.

Joan, you know me. I think PMA is the best route for us to go. It does not anybody any good for us to think negative. I am always reminded of a quote I heard that goes liike this "If you frown, you frown all alone, but if you smile, the whole world smiles with you." If all we have is a lemon, add some sugar and ice water and end up with good lemon aide. Happy and contented New Year. bill

Thank you Joan for remembering all of our loved ones who have passed this year, I stoped to say a prayer for all of us, and asked God to help us help all of you who have yet to step in our heavy footprints to guide all of you to the last goodby. Gail

Marygail you beautiful words brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for thinking of all of us following in the footsteps of some amazing caregivers!

Bill, there is a lemon saying that I like but, sorry, it only applies to women (ok, maybe some confused men, :o)
"If Life Hands You Lemons, Stuff'em in your bra. Can't hurt, might help!"

As I've said several times, May 2010, bring us all some moments of Joy each Day, both great and small. Arms around and around, Susan

PS: Mom and I have a bottle of bubbly, which we will probably open long before midnight. We may have our countdown at 10:00 and figure it's Midnight Somewhere.

Joan, my plans exactly for the New Year. Plan to try to let go of the anger and the hurt, spend am much quality time with Charlie as possible and make some plans so that when "after" comes I will have something to fill the hours that I now devote to him.
