I've been pretty 'bah humbug' about the holidays--dealing with addition of day care, nasty in-laws-- but finally am getting on the bandwagon. I debated about doing a Cmas letter this year and then decided to go ahead as we have so much to be thankful for.

Dave's condition continues to deteriorate with losses in physical ability, losses in ability to converse beyond yes/no, and ability to do meaningful tasks unaided. The good news is that Dave can do tasks if cued. His cognitive ability is so NOT Alzheimer's, the official final diagnosis that we are thankful. He understands humor including puns, greatly enjoys listening to books on CD, retains his memory of people and places (both recent and in the past including names), geographic sense (can go for walks alone when weather is not nasty and points if I need to change lanes and am not). Personal care is OK if we are at home, so we don't travel anymore. The things that mean he needs to leave the home aren't happening so far and that makes this truly a blessed Cmas.

Blessings to you all and know that each and everyone who bares their soul and shares their experiences good and bad is TRULY appreciated by me and YOU are a help to me as we travel our various roads of loss.

    Merry Christmas to everyone!

Merry Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to all of you wonderful friends.

Merry Christmas to all of my Friends also. I could write, truthfully, that this is a terrible time for us. My DW has been falling a lot lately and the dr said that she shouldn't travel so we are here by ourselves. So, today while the housekeeper was here, I went to the gro store and bought a turkey breast, some new potatos and green beans and I am going to prepare a Christmas Dinner for just the two of us. I sure hope she will feel like eating, but, I am going to fix the meal and set the table for her anyhow. She doesn't know about this yet. In fact, she doesn't really realize that it is Christmas.

I also bought her a little necklace and a Christmas card so she will have something to open. I don't really feel bad about our situation because there isn't one thing that I can do about it, so, I am just doing the best I can.

(The part of the above paragraph that says "I am just doing the best I can" is true.)

    Love you All.

Merry Christmas to all; what a blessing your sharing has been to me. One son and family are here (leaving tomorrow midst snow, I'm afraid) moving from MI to MO. NOT a good time to move. Our daughter and family, 2 granddaughters w/husbands, our great-grandson and one's mother-in-law and brother-in-law were here last night. It was a houseful, but fun. HB didn't have too much to say, but did okay.

This has been the worst year of my life, but I have faith that now that Mary Ann is at peace, I will be able to have some sort of life until I see her again in the presence of God. Merry Christmas to you all, and God bless us every one.
  9.
TJ I would like to believe that we will all meet in another life.

Merry Christmas to everybody. Today I had lunch with Clyde at the ALF. It was a great meal and the staff is so very caring. I had a good time with him, but he was soon sleeping. I stayed 3 hours. Then I went to his daughter's house where his entire family was gathered. It really wasn't a bad day, for the most part. I pray for a peaceful 2010 for all of us.

Before I began writing, I was reading through some of the comments on this site. It's Christmas night and here I am, instead of reading a book, watching TV with my DH (who is now probably asleep), I'm writing to all of you here on Spouse. Why, I wondered? We actually had a very nice Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve at my middle daughter's home and my two other daughters were there with their families.,My sister and her family, including her grandchildren, were also there. My daughter just moved into a new home and almost every room on the ground level had a beautiful Christmas tree (it's a BIG house, at least to me it is). My son-in-law cooked a mouth-watering dinner (we all brought something to add to it), we opened our presents by the fireplace, the kids all behaved, and a wonderful time was had by all. My DH had a terrific time. I actually had to be the one asking HIM to leave, not the usual other way around. We spent most of Christmas Day alone, but my oldest daughter and her family joined us for dinner. They just left a little over an hour ago and I wonder why I'm sitting here typing this on Christmas night. Perhaps it's because it's so comforting to know there's somewhere I can express my feelings with people who really understand. I'm so thankful I found you.

Merry ChristmasI May the new year bring us all some measure of peace and may all of you find the comfort I find, knowing there is someplace I can go to be with others who are experiencing the same things I am. Thank you.
