Does anyone else's LO talk about the weatheer incesantlly? I realize that maybe it's one of his few areas of interest, but it drives me crazy.

No I find myself commenting often on the weather -- just something to say to him, and a safe topic. It's an activity of sorts for him to go out to the kitchen where the window looks out across our backyard pond, where it's easy to see if it's raining and how hard. So I sometimes send him to look, just to give him something to do. (And it's important for us for bicycling.)

DH doesn't talk about it incessantly, but if I haven't been in the same room with him in an hour or so, that's the first thing he will ask when I come in. Or, if I'm in the kitchen and he's in the den, he will yell to me "What's the temperature"! Or, "is it raining yet". The other is "what's on the docket for today". But, I digress.

Yes, my husband talks about the weather a lot - but he always has. I think his comes from growing up on a farm. He has a small notebook he uses to keep track of things. He always writes in it what the forecast is (after checking the newspaper and the weather channel on-line). Then he goes out to check his rain gauge and writes down how much water is in it. Then later he writes down what the weather was. By the way, I don't think he ever looks at any of this again. He also is always checking the temperature and telling me what it is. He has an indoor-outdoor thermometer.

Janet, at least HE checks the temp. We have an inside/outside one too on the back door - but he always wants ME to check it! LOl I hope it's not that he can't read it, but I've noticed the last couple of weeks when he looks at his watch he will tell me it's 5:30 - when it's really 6:30. He's always 1 hour off. This is all new.

Vickie, as I wrote my message I was thinking how lucky I am that DH can still read the paper, get on his computer, read the thermometer, and write in his notebook. It will be so hard when he can no longer do those things.

Mine still plays games on the computer; a golf game, hearts, and all kinds of card games which he is good at. So he must be able to read - it's just certain things that I am suspicious of. If it wasn't for the computer, it would really be hard. He plays all afternoon, which leaves me some time alone for me!

Well, first he asks if I slept well, over and over again. and of course I say yes, even if I didn't because it doesn't matter what I say. then he comments on the weather. Oddly, though, the wind could be blowing at 50mph and he would tell me it doesn't look like there's a breeze out there. NO? looks like it to me. And then the clouds, or the sun, but yes, the weather is a safe subject. It's better than politics. My DH used to be a political junkie, and he continues to think he wants to watch the news shows, and then constantly barages me with questions because he doesn't understand what they are saying. I'd rather talk about the weather.

My DH's favorite channel on TV is the weather channel.

The weather channel is also my DH's favorite channel.

The weather channel was my DH favorite channel for years until the last 6 months - and he no longer cared if the TV was on or not.

Besides more of an interest in the weather, I've noticed a more intense reaction to it. It reminds me of a much older person (my parents or grandparents) who would look outside and let the weather determine whether they wanted to go out that day. I guess when you are younger and working, you just get up and go, regardless of the weather. Now we have more of a choice!

Jim just like to have the television on. He doesn't even watch it half the time. He will wear his headphones to block out the other residents noise (which drives him crazy) and sleep with the tv on. Go Figure!

my husband always had an interest in the weather since he worked ourside. But now it has taken over his life, I tell him we don't have to go out in it anymore,we can stay inside by the fire, but that doen't appease him.I f the weather is on TV,everyone better be quiet. We just had 14" of snow and you think it was the end of the world.
