Since we seem to be having comments on facebook, it would be helpful when someone wants to be "friends" with one of us if you would include your "name" from this site. I have recently received 2 requests, but have no idea who they are since the site name is not included.

    Sounds like a good Idea!
  2.
It is also possible to send a note, at the same time as you send the "friend" request, explaining who you are. Maybe that's what you mean.

If so what is the Group Name?
I saw an OT post on this site saying AlzSpouse or is it Alz Spouse was the group name but that does not come up when I do a search for groups on FB

Moorsb, post your facebook here and I will try and send you some of the members names and you can accept them as friends then put them into a file you make of alzheimer spouse. There are 30 some members on facebook. Lois

First, ask Briegull (Clare - the Administrator of the group) to add you as a member. To access the group, click on the little black and blue silhouettes (sp?) at the bottom of your Facebook page. Then click on the big yellow sunflower that is on the screen that comes up. The next screen should be the group's wall screen. Good luck!

    Lois,
Please add me to your list - I am always interested in 'Friending' others like us on FB. I had no idea there were 30 of us out there. So far I think I have contacted only 3 - You, Phranque, and Joan. Please, either send me their names, or send my name to them.
    Thanks

Make sure you mark your privacy settings with the wall being private. Go to settings at the top, down to privacy, and click on 'news feed and wall' and unclick 'show wall posts. By doing this only members of our group (or friends in common) can read what we post.

I found the group. It is azspouse. At the bottom left of the screen there is a group icon. Click on that.
Then goto the top and enter the group name in the search bar. Then the yellow flower comes up. Then ask to join the group and wait till you are confirmed. Once you are confirmed you can get to the group via the group icon at the bottom left of the screen.

I have found that you can create list of friends on Facebook. This will filter the comments from friends who are members of a list you create. Such as azspouse, family, church ... ect
To create a list go to Friends tab then on the left hand side of the page you will see create. Then you give the list a name and then add members to the list. Now you can click on the list and you will only see post from that list of friends.
To undo the filter just click on the Home tab at the top of the page.

All those post on lost fish, etc. are from those of us that play games on Facebook. If you go to the left hand side of our Facebook homepage, if you click on status updates, it will omit all the post from games your friends are playing.

Charlotte, thank you for telling me how to turn off those game updates. That will clean up my news feed very nicely so I can get straight to the good stuff. I have so little time I need to make the most of it usually . I'm happy to be a member of the azspouse group now!

On Facebook you can talk about other things going on that you might not want to start a thread here on. Read some of the threads and see what is posted. Mostly it is just socializing without talking AD.

I recommend inviting people as friends, as well as joining the group, because your friends' status updates show up on your live feed page. It makes me feel less alone to have those glimpses into other people's struggles. I'm Pam Mack on Facebook.

I just approved Cassie and a couple of others. And on my own page today posted a link that T.J. should appreciate...!

Another great thing about facebook is sharing pictures - for instance: we've watched Pam's redo with fascination and pleasure; seen Vickie's beautiful Christmas decorations; and seen us and our spouses, plus a lot of children and grandchildren! It's sharing what is not AD with the friends and "family" we've made here. Most of us don't check it but once a week or so, and some, like me, aren't always sure how to navigate there very well! So if you don't get an answer there right away, it is not because you are being ignored, it is because we don't go there often!

I just requested to be a friend.

Concerning Facebook - Please do not think that I am ignoring those who ask me to be friends or join something or other. This website and Sid take up all of my time, so I don't have the time to figure out how to navigate Facebook. I do confirm requests for friends only from people I absolutely know. If I do not know your last name, I do not confirm. If I do not know someone you want me to be friends with, I do not confirm.

On the other hand, I would like to see what you are all talking about - I had no idea how to join the alzspouse group, but just figured it out from an old post, so I clicked "request to join the group". Would someone please do whatever it is you do to get me into that group? As I said, I do not have time for Facebook, but every once in a while, I would like to check in to see what's going on in the alzspouse group.

The one thing I know how to do is when I send out press releases about things going on in the website, I always click to have them added to my Facebook page.

Thanks everyone - and remember - please do not be insulted if I don't confirm Facebook requests. My plate is full trying to maintain this website.

Joan, I've joined Facebook too, but mostly I'm not on it. My daughter pushed me onto both Facebook and Goodreads during the same week. Not totally sure why, but turned out she was right. I'm on Goodreads a lot.

But basically I wouldn't worry over the Facebook stuff. I think people understand.
