I know divvi has mentioned this problem with her husband. I can't find what medication she has applied in the past. Did it work? And does the rash keep coming back? The doctor prescribed an fungus medication, however, it never clears it up completely. I even shaved his underarms so I could apply the medication right on the skin...believe me my husband never would have allowed his arm pits shaved in the past. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you could have a secondary infection. Have you finished the med the doctor perscribed? Have you spoken to the doctor? I think what divvi used (hopefully she will show up soon and tell you) was an antifungal. Often you need to take an antibiotic if the antifungals do not work.

Divvi is enjoying a visit with her sweet, loving and caring step daughter

Hmmmm....Bluedaze....is this the same sweet, loving and caring stepdaughter who just lives 30 minutes away and hasn't visited her Dad since June?

I had a rash on my underarms last year and my Dermatologist prescribed NIZORAL WESTCORT 1:1. This is a compounded cream to use sparingly twice a day. She said I had a fungus. It cleared up in a few days but I used the cream a while longer. It goes a long way, I have enough for 10 years. I was thrilled to get this cleared up because I thought I was allergic to deodorant.

hi kadee, dr rx'd clobetasol .5mg for DH underarms - it goes away well but if i use deordorant it comes back so its catch 22. clobetasol clears it up fine i apply for about 3days and its gone. and stay gone if i dont use deodorant under that arm but phewey! cant stand that long so i 've been washing with cetaphil soap/washrag more often for BO and trying to stay away from irritating stuff under that one arm. this med also works very well for any rash in the groin if they get it from depends.

i have a standing script if i need a refill. if i dont use the med if its red he constantly itches and scratches and makes it worse so i cant be without the meds. hes on daily low dose antibiotics anyway which could be a cause too. oh well. always something with these guys!
    good l uck,
    divvi

yep dazed, thats the one long lost daughter who visited. we are now done for another 6mos.:)

My experience has been that creams do not clear up fungal rashes, which is usually what you get in warm, moist areas like under the arms. The only thing that I have found to work is Lotrimin POWDER. Not the spray. The powder. It is very expensive in Walgreen's, so I buy it at www.hocks.com. It's about $2 per bottle cheaper at Hock's.

Is the Lotrimin powder in a spray can or a talcum powder type can? All I could find was Lotrimin powder in a spray form.

Another trick which works well for all fungi is tea tree oil. But for persistant rashes do consider need for culture and possible antibiotic treatment.

Sandy-we old nurses sure do love Tea tree oil. I stick with Thursday Plantation. Are you brand loyal?

Kadee, Diane developed a rash under her arms two years ago. I had her use Lotrimin and change brands of underarm deodorant and it cleared up and never came back. So besides using the powder, please change brands of deodorant as well, just in case.

    Kadee,

My husband developed a rash under his arms and lotrimin cleared it up. Plus, I changed his deodorant to just a plain deodorant--no antiperspirant in it. Found out he developed a sensitivity to antiperspirant.
