Stay put, Joan, so you'll get better quickly. There is so much of this in our area, I keep holding my breath! How is Sid handling it?
  2.
There's not much worse than feeling terrible and still having to take of your spouse. Hope you feel better soon

And don't try to recover sooner than your body will let you, so you don't have a relapse. Take care. I hope you feel better soon. Sorry you had to miss the convention, but your health is way more important.

Thank you everyone for you kind thoughts. I'm out of bed for a little bit this morning.

Sid was on a casino trip with the Villa and ALF residents on Thursday from 7:30 AM until 5 PM. Yesterday he rested in the house all day while I was in bed, and today he's helping his friend with his doggie treat business at the outdoor marketplace. He was picked up at 6:15 AM, and won't be home until around 3 PM.

Another wake up call here - how do caregivers who get sick take care of their AD spouses if their spouses need constant care? Yesterday, I couldn't get out of bed for more than 10 minutes.

I will take it very easy all weekend. My plans are to go from my bed to the patio and back. The computer is between the two, so I'll check in every so often.

Joan, that's a good question as most AD spouses are all about themselves. It was good that Sid was gone and you were able to rest. Take it easy.

This has not been fun. I have been sleeping on and off since Thursday. I'm feeling a bit better today, and hope to have a blog written for tomorrow. But honestly, I've been feeling so lousy that I am not going to push it. I'm just going to listen to my body and sleep when it wants to, which is a LOT.

Football on TV has kept Sid occupied all day, and how happy I am that I moved here, so our dinner was delivered as usual.

Thanks to everyone for thinking of me.

Joan, ditto about not worrying about a blog. Rest and get well.

If everyone on this site agreed that even if you wrote a blog, we wouldn't read it....would it make a difference in what you are making "a deadline". (grin).

It probably wouldn't make any sense anyway, because the author would be someone with a 'thore froat and a thopped up node".

Nancy B, you did good on that one. Joan, we love your blogs but we want you to get the proper rest.

Today is the first day I actually got up and got dressed - I have to go to the bank and the pharmacy, but I imagine that will be enough for the day. I am posting Part II of the Holiday Stress Reliever Tips for today's blog - it's all written - I just had to copy it from the archives and update it a bit.

Thanks for your concern - I really am going to rest. This bug has knocked me for a loop, and I need to be healthy for my Thanksgiving trip to Chicago.

Joan.. I echo your thoughts about what do caregivers do who are alone and provide constant care for their spouse. My recent flu related hospitilization opened my eyes. We need to continue to advocate for emergency, respite services. When I was admitted, pleased to hear them ask as part of the admitting procedure, if I was a caretaker. Was too sick to ask them what that meant. Will check if they would have called social services in to help.
