Sheezzz....i'm sick to death of neurologists and the latest Dhhad has moved away so we're "in between" for him. However, the fall and head injury I had Aug 1 has resulted in Post Concussion Syndrome with daily headaches. My primary dr said this can happen and can take awhile to go away. I also have a hematoma still under my eyebrow - not too big or visible but painful at times EXCEPT when I'm in dr's office. Had CT Scan in Emergency Room right after the fall out of a motel bathtub and it was okay. Had an MRI the other day. Dr. thought it wouldn't show anything but today his nurse called and said it is "vague and abnormal" and they are searching for a neurologist to send me to.

I need a personal injury attorney. I've received a call from the insurance company for motel and a letter asking me to sign a release for my medical records but did nothing because I was afraid of doing the wrong thing. With all we go through in this life with dementia I don't want to have to deal with anything else so I'd rather turn it all over to an attorney. How to find a good one? Suggestions?

As far as a neurologist. Sheezzzz I can't stand the idea of seeing another one time time for me.

My current fantasy is to get a settlement and take our own LEISURE SEEKER'S journey - for those of you who read the book which was fantastic BTW.

Nancy - you there? Any update on your concussion? I know I sound like a big baby but (INSERT BIG WHINE) "I don't want to go to a neurologist!"

    thanks for listening,
    terry

Terry, sorry to hear about your headaches and the need for a neurologist. I would just google attorneys in your area. On TV in my area, the personal injury attorneys are advertising all the time. My only question, what puts them at fault for your fall? I am asking out of ignorance on the subject.

My concussion only left me with being somewhat unstable when I arise from bed. I am hoping that goes away with time.

Hi Kitty, The "at fault" is because I slipped and fell while standing up washing my hair in the bathtub (under shower). I'd be surprised if they were not at fault as I wasn't even moving, wasn't stepping into or out of, maybe moved a bit to reposition myself to get the shampoo out of my hair - which I never did BTW. And I slipped right out of the tub and onto the tile floor. The fall was so hard that I was scared to death I was going to be paralyzed. My sister was there in seconds and took me straight to emergency room - I looked like hell - very black and blue left side of face. They did a CT Scan and it looked okay and told me to follow up with my dr. I still have this hematoma though which is sensitive and I believe Nancy B mentioned she also has one from a more recent fall. So, I'm not sure if the headaches are from this so=called Post Concussion Syndrome or something else. The dr. seemed 90% sure the MRI would show nothing and that the headaches would eventually go away.

Anyway, their insurance company in their letter asked for a release of my medical records and the HIPPA form they sent said it was for a "legal action." Obviously they are expecting one.

I'm not into litigation necessarily but I just don't want to have to deal with the medical bills and stuff or the insurance company for the hotel. I read on the internet that if you have an attorney they file a notice of representation and then the insurance company can't contact me anymore. I'm into simplifying my life and I can barely keep up Blue Cross stuff on our regular medical bills.

Oh, I googled the name of the hotel along with "slippery" and came up with several complaints from people specifically mentioning how slippery the tubs are.

Ironic that I wouldn't have thought of getting an attorney until I read the "Legal Action" in their letter to me. I don't want to go to just any ambulance chaser so googled "best lawyer" and some newspapers and found one highly recommended by peers so may try them.

Haven't been posting much because I get blurry and trying to read the screen too long makes headache worse. Just learned that I can enlarge the font on this netbook so I can read a bit longer now. Am going to try to catch up.

o.k., now I understand. Especially since you found the complaints against that hotel with slippery tubs. I had a HUGE hematoma on my backside after my fall. It takes a while for them to go away. Hoping you are feeling better each day. I was wondering if the hematoma was causing the headaches. Just a thought.

Terry, I have not read this post for a few days, and just wanted you to know I still have a sensitive (sore) spot on my head, near my hairline. If I touch it with the bristles of my hair brush, it hurts. I still have headaches, and if I bend over at the waist with my head down, the rush of blood makes that area ache.

A nurse friend of mine said this is not unusual, and it will take several months for it to be completely better. OR what??? ... I fell in my kitchen. I know the feeling of being unable to move arms and being unable to get up. The doctor said it was a concussion and to gt plenty of rest. (CT scan, etc.).. No mention of 'hospitalization', they seem to look at it as a minor thing. From MY point of view, it's not MINOR. The first two weeks, I looked like I had been in a bad car wreck. The bruises moved down my face, eye was swollen shut, black/burgundy/pink discoloration from my heairline to below my cheekbone.

I feel for you. It takes someone who has gone through this to truly understand.

dont sign any release Terry. get yourself an atty asap and have them deal directly with the insurance company. i am not a legal expert but what i know from 'experience' is that they try to finiggle you into signing a release form so they can get ALL your prior medical records upfront and find something in them that would explain your fall to not be liable.. and believe me they can find something to create doubts.

you must not give them any statements or even speak to them if you are considering litigation. thats for the attys to hash out.

disclaimer, :) not an atty just speaking from my own experiences married to an atty.. haha.

In Russian, the word for attorney is адвокат

Ya never know when you will need that information. OT: In 1944, the Army sent my husband to Japanese Language School for 6 months. Then they sent him to Germany.

I've found that word of mouth is the best way to find a dr or lawyer.

And, if you can speak Japanese or Russian, you increase your chances of finding one :)

Terry, you HAVE to laugh with this group. Divvi knows, she is claiming a disclaimer, but wow, what advice she has, I know from personal experience.
