My husband has lots of hairs in his nose! I bought one of those little thingys that is battery operated that is supposed to take care of hair in the nose and the ears but it doesn't do such a great job. Does anyone else have this problem? I don't have trouble shaving him but this is a problem. Thanks.

Patsy, we used manicure scissors to trim the hairs in my husband's nose, as that is what he always used. The barber can also do it if your husband gets a haircut.

How do you tell your wife she needs to shave?

also use manicure scissors to trim nose hair. the little contraptions can pull nose hair and its not a pleasant experience AD or not. try to do the trim when they are relaxed -it wont work if they are moving around alot.

    moorsb,

Log onto the home page - www.thealzheimerspouse.com. Look on the left side, and scroll down to "Help for Male Caregivers". Click that - #5 on the list is "facial hair". That should help you out.

Salons are great at removing facial hair for both men and women......my husband's stylist cuts his hair, trims his ears, nose hair and trims his eyebrows.

Women get eyebrows waxed, as well as some get the entire face done!

Whatever is needed, you don't have to do it for them if (A) they won't let you or (B) you are afraid to attempt it.

Thanks to all. I had thought about manicure scissors but was afraid!!! Maybe if I come towards him, scissors in hand, he'll be so frightened he'll be very, very still. His hair is very short and I usually just do the clippers on that myself.
I'm gaining so much from reading posts here....some posts from way back! I should have been here long ago!

Patsy, look in the dog grooming section at the big box pet store or maybe online, buy the small scissors with the rounded ends. They were originally purchased to groom our pups but they work great for nose hairs and you don't have to worry about poking DH.

The nail scissors for babies also have rounded ends.

Copy and paste the below link -- sorry it's so long. These say 4 inch, mine are shorter than that. Looks like the key is "ball tip" if searching online.

Actually, Patsy, when he sees you coming at him scissors in hand he's likely to run -- LOL

Try this: use one finger to gently press the tip of his nose towards his face, this opens the individual nostrils and allows for easier placement of the scissor tip.

I find that keeping up a softly running chatter with DH keeps him sitting still while I do this.

Thanks, Weejun, I'm looking for any help in this situation. I'm going to give it a try tonight. I may go ahead and dial 911 before I start.

Patsy, just have some of your extra jewelry on hand; if you accidentally poke a new hole in his nose you can throw an earring in there and say "voila! now you are in style"
