Does anyone have a good suggestion on how to dispose of wet depends, etc without having your trash and thus house smell like Urine? My husband is new at incontinence so I am at my wits end about a lot of things! Your discussion on Incontinence really helped, but didn't see this topic mentioned

Kat, I kept a supply of plastic grocery bags on hand. I would drop the used pads, wipes and gloves into the bag, tie it shut and take it out to the trash can. That seemed to work the best for us. I also kept an odor neutralizing spray can in his room and would use it as needed.

Exactly my procedure. It isn't fun and it isn't ecologically friendly but what are you gonna DO?!

I'm not doing this, but my old neighbor who had two dogs at the time kept an outdoor trash can for what she picked up during walks. Probably works for people too.

When my daughter was in cloth diapers I kept a pail with bleach and water in it. That might work for the wash cloths if you are going to try to wash them. And back then they had liners for diapers that were flushable. You could just dump the liner and anything solid into a toilet and flush it down. I don't know if anything like that still exists.

I did the same as Sandi*. Got the dirty depends wrapped and outside as soon as possible. I even bought a new large heavy duty garbage can for them. And I took a trick from child rearing just as Starling suggested. I kept a pail of bleach water to drop the dirty wash cloths in and it worked great.

i could open my own land fill at this point.:)

washing anything that is associated with poop duty is non acceptable to me-aka cloth diapers and/or liners.

its not like babies who have BM folks, real adults do big messes.
disposables are a necessity of life if they are incontinent.

sad that we have so many plastics going into the landfills though. they need an eco-friendly depend soon!

tying them up in the plastic bags from grocery stores is what i do- and then into the garbage OUTSIDE!

I wonder if one of those baby diaper contraptions would work: you put a diaper in and turn a crank or something and it gets enclosed, and a fresh plastic bag sits waiting. Playtex Diaper genie.
